I didn’t notice any real difference in UCA clearance after the lift from before. As for any trouble aligning it, they didn’t mention any troubles or challenges, so I assume it wasn’t an issue.

Thanks. Did you have the dealer align it or an independent shop?

Independent shop. Sorry for the slow reply - I’ve been on the road for three days.

20k!! I’m about to hit 15k. Already trying to plan another trip out West.

We’re gonna be in the high mileage club before we know it…

25-30/year is pretty normal for me. Even last year was still a 25k year on my old truck before I traded it.

This is Awesome! Too bad I can't find a lunar rock overlay for sale online now.

Your truck looks amazing and I'm only up to page 7 of this thread. Definitely copying some of your mods when my truck comes in. Thanks for sharing

AJT got a cease and desist from TMC for the design. Seems like there are some on Etsy or Ebay, but probably not in the color. Cement is really close in color - when isolated on small parts you probably won't notice it (my key fob is cement, and unless I actually set it against the truck color it is hard to tell).

If you can light that switch then that is a mandatory mod and demonstrates your electrical genius.

Well, this switch is already wired to be illuminated. But getting it working in my Tundra is where there’s some witchcraft involved. And no part of it came from KJTO…

Is it an OEM part from a different Toyota/Lexus? Same size?

Yes, but not US domestic. It’s a little bit of a unicorn.
More details to come… I’m hoping the rain subsides tomorrow and I can temp wire it in and see if it will work.

My Platinum already has the power fold mirrors. If it is the same size and it has the same connector with the pin positions the same then I would only need to connect to the illumination circuit. Right?
But those are two big assumptions.

Unfortunately, your Platinum won't work with this one. You've got an ECU (actually two of them) controlling your mirrors because of the memory function, and your button is sending control signals to your Main ECU that then tells your two Mirror Control ECUs (one in each door) how to drive the mirrors. On the non-Platinum/1794 trucks, all the power mirror functions are direct power and so this switch should work.

You could trade it in for a Limited and give up:
    Seat / mirror memory
    Cooled seats
    Power adjust steering wheel
    That quilted leather interior trim
    Color matched front end

That will not happen. Back to mounting a small blue led above the switch.

Good news is that I got a chance to temp install it and test things out between rain squalls this afternoon…
Bad news is that it doesn’t look like it’s gonna work.

The issue isn’t the backlight (working perfect) or the fold switch (also working perfect). The issue is in the mirror adjustments… they will move slightly and then just stop and at that point won’t do anything more.

My suspicion is that the mirror adjustment motors need more juice than this little switch PCB can put out.

I might buy another one of the plain switches I have and see if I can butcher up some illumination by swapping parts but I’m not much of a micro-electonics guy when it comes to soldering and such…so I might be there with you Steve on just putting a small LED just above the switch.

I found an illuminated mirror switch on eBay from Taiwan ($105) but it uses a green backlight and it only illuminates the large 4-way button.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/141595648536
I will keep looking but it appears that your switch Casey at least has a blue backlight and it illuminates all buttons. My greatest need is for illumination of the fold button (because I gave up on auto-fold like on my Lexus).

Yeah, I've looked at that one. I actually bought the wiring harness from that seller but it isn't actually compatible with the wiring on our trucks. Fundamentally, there are several issues:

    1. The 1794/Platinum memory trucks use an external ECU for mirror controls, so the switch is simply sending signals and this makes it so nothing else out there on any other Toyota vehicle will be compatible for you. One person went so far as to consider making a Raspberry Pi device to take signal from an illuminated switch and then send the appropriate signals to the ECU...but I haven't seen any more on that project.
    2. The fully illuminated mirror switches for other Toyota models are from an international version of the Corolla (called the Auris) of a specific trim, and in those the switch is actually a printed PCB that has all of the basic ECU functionality within the switch. That is the switch I have, and it appears that it may not be robust enough to power the adjustment motors (especially on my tow mirrors).
    3. The partially illuminated mirror switches only light up the directional pad, and appear to almost all be green backlight. These switches do, however, appear to be good old fashioned standard switches (for the purpose of working in the non-memory trucks).

mine arrives next week and unfortunately has these installed from the factory but I don’t like them. Do you have any more photos? I’d like to see how it looks. I’d like to remove them. But your post has me worried.

I think you’ll have a hard time taking them off without leaving some damage behind. But I also don’t think they take away from anything by having them on there either.

Ah thanks for these pics! Yes they look subtle per your pics! I was worried they would be more bulky and take away from the design of the truck.
