Can someone please explain to me what does Car Play really do? I have a 2023 Tundra 1794 edition I just bought that plays my I-phone fine. So what does Car Play really do. And is there an extra charge for that as well? Oh and what does the little orange light in the box on the front windshield just to the left of my rear view mirror for. Other than annoyance.

CarPlay allows you to mirror certain phone apps on your infotainment screen. Examples are Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, etc...

It's free. Just have to enable the CarPlay compatible apps on your phone.

Go back to your sale person and tell them to go over your truck with you.

    Welcome to the forum.
    CarPlay is the shizzle.

For one thing, it shows Waze, Apple, and Google maps on your radio screen.
I like them better than the Toyota navigation sometimes.
It also helps with texts and phone calls from your iPhone.

Also, I run Sirius/XM off the phone app instead of the radio.
There are several channels on the app not available from the satellite feed.
I also run the local news station through the iPhone, with better sound than the AM signal.

Is this the box you are referring to on the windshield?
If so, that is the OEM dashcam.
If not, you'd need to post a pic of it.

I wish i could add youtube to my car play. I know there are devices you can buy etc. I have song playlists on my youtube account that are AI. Cant be found on apple music or spotify. I can play them through "Now PLaying" but i have to manually go to youtube on my phone and start playing songs there.
