    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else is excited for the snow to come so they can try out their Tundy in it?!

I have.a TRD Off road, does anyone have any input on how well the stock Michelins do in snow? I have a hilly driveway and I have to work whether there is 2 feet of snow in the middle of a blizzard or not, and sometimes I don't have time to clear the driveway before heading off to work, so I am hoping they are good tires!

I know I should be careful what I ask for...

I’m kinda ready for it too. Summer here was only about 2 months, but if it’s going to get cold then snow. I switched my tires before the first winter so I don’t have any experience with the Michelin’s.

If you don’t clear your driveway and it’s too much snow, it’ll pack under the truck and you’ll be bottomed out and get stuck. That happened to me in about 2 feet of snow. 4wd didn’t help. I had to shovel enough out from under the truck to be able to move.

    Mornin!
I'm ready for snow, after hunting season of course.
I put on Goodyear UltraTerrains this spring, can't wait to see how they perform in snow.

A lot of people bash the stock Michelins but they did better than I thought they would last winter.

Good to know!!! I guess I will try and get the driveway done before leaving if the snow amount is significant!! I just get sad when I have to wake up any earlier than 6 am.

I bottomed out with my ATV in the snow a couple years ago in my yard, finally got it out, but needless to say I had some loom and grass seed to spread the following spring! :D

No kidding, we literally got like 3 inches at a time x 2 and that was it, and I live in the North Eastern US!! I don't know about your area, but we are in a major drought so I am guessing we may make up for that this winter!

I’m not too sure about the Michelin’s in the snow. They just don’t look they would be good in it but who knows. I’m not going to see how they perform though. Toyo OC AT3’s are going on next month.

When I lived in the north east and mid west, I had a set of SNOW TIRES mounted on a spare set of steel wheels... it's not too late for you to do the same.

I have a pretty steep driveway an was disappointed the first time I went to run my Tundra up it in snow . Not impressed.. It wasn't the stock tire but a similar all season.. I didn't like the way this truck felt in snow. I had a Tacoma with M/T tires when I bought my house an I could leave it in 2wd most of the time an crawl up.. Tundra made it about 10 feet in similar conditions.. All Power with no true LSD on all season is a crap combination. Even in 4wd there was times I couldn't make it . An I'm sure some folks are probably thinking I don't know how to drive, well I've had em all, front wheel, rear wheel, all wheel over my entire driving life with plenty of experience. Once I got my aggressive tires on it helped alot. If your driving in snow for long periods I think it's wise to get a winter set or something with some real tread.

I do also leave some bags of salt and sand in the back for a little extra weight.

Two or three hundred pounds of additional weight secured in the bed over the rear axle will help with traction.

Get new tires. The best snow tires I have run are the Firestone Winterforce. The stock Michellins are not that good. Also throw some weight in the truck bed to help out. I run about 250-300 of sand bags all winter

I'm in Ohio and moving deeper into the snowbelt in the next few weeks. Getting Yokohama IceGuard winter tires mounted in a couple weeks and looking forward to trying them out! The stock Bridgestones wouldn't even get out of my flat driveway in RWD when there was a dusting of snow on the ground!

I have not even driven my Tundra in the rain, let alone snow. Lol, my Tundra is a garage queen. I only drive it when I need to tow or haul something.

I drive a 2020 Corolla every day. I drive around 60 miles a day round trip, so the better fuel economy is nice.

I miss the Colorado snow. It will be a long drive for me to find any from here in Florida. I pretend the white beach sand is snow, and drink hot cocoa in a Santa hat. and cruise the coast in December with my glasses off. If I pretend really hard, it's definitely snow.

Sounds great to me. I want to do the same thing but it will probably be a ‘95 Corolla with 200k on it.

I have considered buying a Corolla or Camry for DD use, but I just can't bring myself to give up the commanding view & ground clearance my trucks give me and drive a low slung car anymore.

I did the math when I had a longer commute with regards to buying a small commuter car, and honestly according to the math, especially now when gas prices are low, it's actually more expensive to have a second vehicle rather than driving the has guzzling Tundra and having a single vehicle.

I have two thirsty V8s to choose from, the grey one is for work and the white one is for fun.
Both are capable of getting 15 to 20 mpg, and I am cool with that.

I agree with this for sure. I don't think it is cheaper, but I am able to keep the miles on my Tundra low. I have driven 1700 miles on it and I have had it a year now. This is important to me because I want it to last a long time and I have no intention of buying another truck unless it has a V8 in it and the new Tundra will not have a V8. I guess I am old school with the whole V8 in a truck thing. Honestly, it is probably silly of me to think like that.

I'm currently in Alabama and would be absolutely tickled to death if I never saw snow again for as long as I live.

I love snow but when you live in a place that only get 3 months of summer it can wait. Already snowed once in September which means we have had two months without it.

You should really get the ole girl out more often and stretch her legs! At this rate you'll on put on 17k miles in 10 years. I've put 26k on my truck this past year so far. Gonna hit 200k in the next week or two!

Been in Maine and Massachusetts my whole life and if I didn’t see snow again, I wouldn’t be sad. After I retire and the kids are living their own lives, I’m heading south. Between all the money I have in snow removal equipment and the stress of getting 18 inches of snow dumped on me at any given moment, I’ll be fine without seeing again. Oh and I’m a mailman and working in it sucks as well.

It only snowed once last year. This was the great blizzard of 2019 in Alabama.i had 25% of the plant call into work the next morning. It was pretty rough.

I went from Stock Michelins to 275/70 KO2's and it was a noticeable improvement. Stockers had approximately 40K on them but seemed to have plenty of "tread" left relative to when they are new. They didnt look worn or unsafe and I'm pretty cautious about tires. When I switched we lived on a ¼ mile of hilly unpaved road that even when it got plowed, I had to go 4hi all the time in the michelins. once the KO2s were on, I could get out in 2hi without being a clown on the go pedal. I live in a lake effect band off of Lake Ontario so we can get real snow in a matter of hours and you dont want to be out in that regardless of your tires.
