Can you get 35's with just a suspension upgrade?

Ok, stupid question time, I've been searching the forums but haven't found what I'm looking for. Looking to upgrade my relatively stock 2016 Plat 4x4 Crewmax. (which is apparently a 2.5gen now?)

Is it possible to get 35's on it with the addition of something like Bilstein 6112's? or does it need a suspension upgrade AND a lift kit/spacers?

I've read all about how people need to BMC, and remove flaps which is fine, just don't want to walk into my local 4x4 shop with my head completely up my ass. I'd potentially buy the new wheels / tires / coilovers and pay for installation, but what I've read about spacers seems like they might be less desirable from a maintenance/reliability standpoint. I live in the woods, but do commute on highways for work several hours a week.

Finally, I prefer more sidewall, less wheel - any pros/cons on 17 vs 18 inch wheels? looking at the SCS ray10's + Grabber X3's

Love love love my toyota trucks, had a TRD Pro Taco for 10 years before upgrading, your patience and advice is very much appreciated.
