Can I get your opinion on some TRD Pro "classic" wheels?

Not sure what to call them, but I really like the TRD wheels in all black that came with the previous TRD Pro's. I know a lot of folks are buying takeoffs and powder coating them, but I'm not finding a huge cost savings and I've seen some chiping stories as well.

I saw a set of the all black pro takeoffs on CL last week, but they were still a good 3 hour drive and not much cheaper than brand new ones on ebay and I'm not sure how legit they were.

So, what do you guys think about spending $1450 (shipped) on a set of OEM TRD Pro wheels off ebay? I haven't bought a lot off ebay and this would be my first time buying wheels so I'm not sure how to tell if they're legit OEM. It seems like a lot when you can buy custom wheels for under $800, but I really like this look.
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-TUN...d:g:NwwAAOSw2XJbiK87:rk:2:pf:1&frcectupt=true

Anyways, looking forward to hearing if you think this is too much, if you think they're legit OEM, etc...

    Thanks,
    Don

Haha ha! I bought take offs and had them powder coated. Put new TPMS and put OEM rubber back on them, only to discover that I liked my Fuel Beasts more.

$1450 for the older TRD Pro wheels seems very, very excessive. I saw someone post a new version set for $1750 - that's a lot more wheel than the older one for not that much more money.

I can also see your point about the negligible cost savings getting TRD and then powdercoating to TRD Pro - that's not a cheap maneuver unless you score the original wheels at under $350 which isn't out of the realms of possible but you still have the ballache of sandblasting & powedercoating.

Personally, if it were me and i had that kind of money to blow on wheels, I'd be spending a lot of time looking at the SCS website or even Icon for their new rebounds... I couldn't imagine spending $1450 on trd wheels that were just black. Those SCS ones are drool worthy

I guess it depends on how long you are willing to wait. In my search, I wanted the TRD Pro wheels but, at the time, I was not willing to pay the premium for what people were selling them for. I decided on PC'ing a TRD take-off set and started looking around. I was able to find a full set for $200 dollars off of CL and had them PC'd for $240. So, $440 for "fake" TRD Pro wheels seemed like a bargain to me.

Now, I've only owned them for 3 months now and had them installed 2 months ago, so I'm not sure of the longevity of the PC. As long as potholes and curbs don't jump out at me then I don't see where the PC couldn't last as long as factory. I just wanted to give you something to think about if you are really considering spending more than $1000 on a real set.

I was in the same boat as you. Waited forever for some TRD Pros to pop up for sale and jumped on a set for $1000. Ended up getting some SCS a few months later.

Thanks - I saw these but wasn't sure if they were legit with the non pro center caps.

Thanks for the input guys. I agree - after posting that last night I realized that it does seem like too much money and maybe if I'm patient a good deal will come along.

The listing actually says they're powder coated, so they're non-Pro take offs and not a deal at all. I'm going to get mine powder coated eventually, probably when I get new tires in a couple years, but plasti dipped them for now and actually like how they look. Hoping it doesn't turn into a "nothing more permanent than a temporary solution" scenario.

    Good luck on your search!

I have to agree with everyone else.. $1400-$1500 is too much. I paid just under $1000 for mine back when they were the only PRO style available.
For what it’s worth, I think they are awesome. So if you like them, buy them!

Thanks everyone. I think I was a few too many beers in when I was considering those. I have the TRD Sport 20" wheels and just don't like the looks or the harsh ride. I also want a better tire on there for the snow. I just found a few pics of the stock TRD Off Road wheels on MGM tundra's and I might just start there. If I can pick up a set of those rims off CL for $3-400 then I might try to just get them on with some better tires and see how it goes for a while. I like the offset somewhere between +30 and stock from what i've seen because I can't stand what the extended wheels do to dark paint.

I bought a set of TRD Off-Road takeoffs locally for $250 in excellent shape. I was planning on having them powder-coated before I decided to keep my 2019 Pro wheels, but that route would have been much cheaper.

I found a set of TRD Offroad takeoffs in great condition on CL. Paid $300. After getting "talked into" not spending too much money by my wife, I ended up throwing them on as is with some 275/70R18 Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT's. I also added some TRD center caps, but didn't get a pic with them yet. Man, what a difference! I love the look of the truck now.

I got TRD Pro take offs with the stock tires for $1000. No shipping I picked them up. There was a set on Craigslist in my area recently for $1200 with tires. I would keep checking Craigslist in your area.

Correct. I've had them for almost a week and there has been zero rub on stock suspension.

You bet. I also really like the Coopers so far. Hoping to test them in the snow soon, but on wet pavement they seem to grip better than the KO2's I had on my last vehicle. Much cheaper too.

I've got a set with tires listed here for $1100 just to give another price point comparison, I'm too lazy to deal with shipping but I do have some road trips planned this year. None to CA.
