I have a Honda 2200 gas generator that is capable of linking in parallel to another one with the two wire cable. Can these be linked to another brand generator like a Yamaha or other brand?

I am wondering if there is any type of electronic control on this that regulates between the two or if they just work off electrical input. I occasionally see other similar sized generators for sale in the local classifieds that are about 1/2 price of new. I would like to 2nd one to have on hand as an assist.

Great question. I wish I knew. My guess is yes, but that's a guess as long as volts/amps are similar.

If you are running DC, it's not a problem, but AC ..... it's a big NO NO NO!
When summing AC, you need to make sure the phases of both generators AC sine wave, ARE IN PHASE!!
Failure to do so results in some pretty spectacular things happening! You should consider yourself lucky if all that happens is a blown fuse!
The Honda put provisions in to sync two generators together so if other generators have the provision to Gen Lock or Sync, that should be OK, but personally I would figure what Sync system Honda uses vs. what the "The Other Guys" generators use to sync.
If they are mutually compatible, go for it!

The article linked above says that if they are both inverter types then they should be OK. I will probably look just for another Honda 2200
