That got me thinking how guys/girls pick out a vehicle. I would think the lengthy list is typically on us guys. Tried to find a meme with no luck, but I found this, which is somewhat related.

If anyone needs a reason to use all their fancy car wash stuff, got a real dirty quicksand pro you can detail.

This is basically how I clean my truck...

Step 1: rinse it off with a hose
    Step 2: repeat step one
    Finished.....

It gets a big detail once a year with clay bar, paint correction and then whatever waxes the detailer uses. I lived in CA though. Never had to worry about actual weather. Just the pollution that would fall with the condensation. Just moved to Indiana last week, so I may have to do more than just hose it off. Also, this truck is a spare vehicle so it hardly ever gets driven. When it does, we are usually going camping/wheeling.

Yep. My car wash bucket is filled with cleaners, degreasers, clay bars, tire shine, interior detailing, and microfiber towels.

My shower has one bar of dial, a razor and a washcloth.

That's how I like it uh huh

I only wash my truck after driving in the snow on salted roads or when I can't tell what color my truck is. And it's spray, soap, rinse... 10 minutes and I'm done. I wash myself even less...

I live in an apartment so I run mine through a "touchless" automated car wash about once a month in summer and once a week in winter.... see my pics of the truck for results.

That's gonna tear off your clearcoat and eventually your paint bud.

My mom did the same to her white corolla since she bought it. Paint "powder" started running after 6 years and her paint started looking like it was a matte finish. Had to go get it redone.

There are so many abrasives in those touchless car washes it's not even funny. Once a blue moon is fine (Ive done that about twice in the 4 years since I've owned my truck) but best thing to do is wash it by hand.

Yup. Touchless is the only car wash I would run my wife's black car through. And not even that often. Now it's got permanent water marks on it. I think they use extremely strong chemicals. Stopped using them since.

I am unaware of the abrasives involved... can you link me up to any information regarding this, thanks.

I will be inquiring to the management here to see if they have a spigot I can hook a hose to, but I skeptical. But hey nothing ventured nothing gained.

    OMG that's hilarious...and so true.

Showed my wife and at first she thought I had posted a picture of all my cleaning gear, until she saw the next part with the single bottle of shampoo. She asked if I had a twin she didn't know about.

And the shampoo one.....laughed my ass off - soooooooo accurate!

    Well done guys!!! :militarypress:

Almost every apartment complex I've lived in has had a car wash area or at the very least, a spot where you can park and hook up your own hose.

It's entirely up to you, but after seeing what happened to my moms car, I won't go near a car wash, even one you do yourself. Those brushes are FILTHY not to mention the chemicals are super harsh.

I use dawn soap to wash my truck and carnauba wax (two to three times a year) with spray wax in between.

Dawn soap go wash your car/truck?!? :annoyed::goingcrazy:

Invest in a car shampoo... the dawn soap strips every protectant off the paint. That carnuba you do is stripped off the next wash you do with dawn. And then it starts to attack the clear.

    Thanks for the links.

I will know within a day or two regarding a 'car wash spot'.
