Fuel tax is now the new cigarette tax. With gas prices as low as they have been (knock on wood), i'm not surprised that they are taxing the crap out of it.

In reality, $3-4 a fill-up isn't going to make me move out of the state. Caltrans is crapping their pants with all the money they have heading their way, a couple of my co-workers have already jumped ship from our private firm to CT. They are hiring for all positions (i'm still thinking about it), so if anyone is in a engineering/construction field, or shit, even admin staff.....time to apply.

I'm not moving either but they will tax us anyway they can. No joke about Caltrans - billions coming their way

Jerry "mood beam" Brown is determined to build his stupid crazy train and eliminate gasoline powered cars from the state.

We are moving in two years. Between the tyrannical gun laws, the eco-nazis, the flood of illegals, ridiculous cost of living, gas taxes, and income taxes the tyrannical left wing nut jobs in Excremento are driving the CA natives out. My family has been in CA for six generations, the left has ruined this state and we are moving out as soon as my kids leave to go to college.

Two years and CA won't get our taxes anymore. Let them try to replace the taxes we pay on $250K income with illegals making minimum wage and ruining our schools. Fuck California.

Wow....and here i thought i was the only one who thought that way. The CAs that are moving from there to NV aren't helping NV though.

Though I'm not CA native (you couldn't pay me to live there) I love visiting certain areas there.

Oklahoma is looking at increasing the gas tax here as well as other taxes. One of the things I hate about this state, is you get taxed on everything including food

Love it here in CA I'm just tired of getting ripped off on everything.
Honestly the gas tax isn't that big of deal, it's the increase in registration since it's already so expensive.
My tags were a little over 500 bucks.

Edit: it's also stupid we didn't get to vote on this.

I would have thought with the pot tax/recreational sales starting Jan 1 18' there would of been a huge influx of cash to the state. Who knows maybe they will give us some back like they did in CO after realizing how much money they were collecting in pot tax? Wishful thinking I know. I'm sure they will find some other stupid reason to spend it on.

It's that syphilitic jerry brown and his liberal cronies. I went to fill up yesterday, before the tax took effect, but all of the (greedy) stations I visited in San Diego had already increased their prices to reflect the coming tax. The local Chevron jumped 23 cents a gallon overnight. I do have a choice of where I live and CA is not gonna be my home for much longer.

I moved out of California 2 years ago, for a lot of the same reasons already mentioned. I was sick and tired of the politics, cost, regulations, and all that. I was also tired of never having a steady source of work, which seems to be the one thing that's improved since I left. I have learned that Washington has some similarities, but luckily they are regionally located around Seattle. If you go north, it's a different world. People up here love their guns, their trucks, and their fishing poles. Yes, it is also expensive here, but in different ways. The cost of gas tends to be less, not by a lot, but unlike the roller coaster of gas prices in CA, the price tends to stay pretty steady most of the time. Sales tax is higher, but vehicle registration fees.....wow what a difference. I used to pay $400 a year in CA. In WA, they are $80. I'm sure there are other places I could live I'd also like, but even though I was born and raised in CA, along with my family, I don't think I could ever move back.

Becoming like Europe. Some countries the tax is over 75%. The wind blows in the wrong direction and gas prices increase accordingly. Hurricanes in Texas, another excuse to push the prices up. Winter coming, another excuse to raise prices!!! USA have is good thus far
