Does anyone make a C-notch kit for the 3rd Gen. Tundra's?

A C-notch is for the rear part of the frame so that a lowered truck can still have travel in the suspension. The notch is made just above the rear end.

Yeah he’s only got about an inch left of up travel.

I’m also wondering if C-notch kit from another truck could be utilized. It’d be nice if they posted measurements.

You might have to go custom. Find a good fab shop.

This shouldn’t cost much if ya do. This would take me a few hours in my shop to build custom notches on a tundra. And I’m just a guy with a welder. Just keep that in mind when getting quotes. @TRD_femi

Funny, you are who I first thought of. I thought to myself “I bet Dan could nail this”!

I’ve only seen it done on my truck shows in the morning on Sundays. LOL. So would you do a temporary jig to keep the frame secure while you cut the notch in?

Haha awesome. Ya for sure. Just support the frame and ensure everything is true. Then choppity chop!

Can you provide some more detail on how you would "support the frame"?

Just block it up in all four corners. Then under the rear of the cab. And I would block the rear axle up as well to take the strain off the frame. Frames are quite resilient once the weight is out of the equation. This is how I notched my c10

I assume these flanged metal plates should be welded in place vs bolting in like some of the kits?

Yes you bet they would. You could use a piece of 4” pipe cut in half and welded in. And then double box the remaining frame with a second layer of 3/16” steel (this part most likely overkill-even just double walls on the side will do). Basically like this. Is what I would do.

Tundras dont have as big of a drop crowd as chevy. Just get it custom made. Seems simple enough just time consuming. Follow the design of a chevy kit

Just have some made locally. Best to have it made custom anyway so it fits your exact application.

Is there a C-notch or similar modification for the drive shaft about 20 inches down stream of where it attaches to the transmission?

The old drive shaft, and you can see where it hits the cross-member.

    IMG_1679 (2).jpg

You can see that the new drive shaft has made contact a few times, but only if the bags are low on air.

    IMG_7204 (3).jpg

It's the price I pay catching air every now and then.
