Howdy! I currently own a V6 Manual '03 Tundra and love it, but I've been wanting an SUV for some time now and I have one I'm going to see this weekend. 2005-7 SR5 4WD with most things I've been looking for.

I know look for rust and rust repairs, bearings, as well as the Sequoia's rear hatch and window mechanisms in particular... Is there anything else I really need to watch out for?

Also, anyone know the best Havis style center console? Looking for something with an iPad mount if possible as well as radios.

Timing belt and the door checks in the rear doors like to wear out early for some reason. Drive around in 4wd to make sure there's no weird driveline vibrations.

I just replaced the tailgate handle and the latch, not too bad of a job, I bought a dorman replacement and it was a piece of junk. Stick with OEM for the latch, I got an all metal handle off Amazon and it's been great so far.

Even though my Sequoia is in much worse shape than my tundra, I find myself driving the Sequoia a lot more.

I love our 04, I can't wait for it to be my daily when my wife upgrades.
Looks like you're set on items to look for other than typical maintenence, not sequoia specific. Trans, diff, transfer case fluid service intervals.
Also, if it matters I believe 05 was the first year for the sealed transmission. Once a year I drain and fill our transmission, takes about 20 min. The fluid is cherry red coming out.

    Enjoy the new ride!

Well, I did it... Bought an '05 SR5 4WD with around 170k miles; it's currently getting some work done on it the dealer included with the purchase... I thought I had some exterior pics but apparently not! At this point, going to be looking for a metal heavy duty bumper since I've already iced 2 deer from my Tundra and I'd rather not have to deal with that with this Sequoia. I'll post pics when I get it back in a few days.

Now to go through https://www.tundras.com/threads/1st-gen-tundra-armor-thread.50877/... Haha

Congrats! Our '06 Sequoia has dated creature features of course - not even bluetooth and is thirsty but we have zero plans to get rid of her! Reliable. Wouldn't have bought a Tundra without the experience on the Sequoia.

Well, I've had it for a few weeks, and now I'm worried how screwed I am; installed new brakes, did some more work, and now I'm getting O2 sensor and SAIS errors out the wazoo, and blowing fuses... FML, my 03 wasn't this complicated...

Ok, there’s some sort of short in the O2 or SAIS wiring and I have no idea where to find it.

Which error codes are you getting? SAIS isn't surprising, but the rest is weird.

Not hard, just gotta make sure the fluid is the correct temperature when you pull the check plug

    Removed lots of rust.
A SAIS bypass is a good option. I have the Hewitt brand.
