I'm hunting for a 2004-06 double cab, and as you know they are hard to find. Located one with a replaced frame. On the one hand I think: great, it's got another 10 years in it. It's located in a rust belt state. ON the other hand, are there other mechanical problems that arise from the replacement? And lastly, I'm wondering if the frame was so rusted that it needed replaced, what does that say about the condition of the suspension, the body, and every single nut and bolt underneath? Suggestions?

Frame replacement was probably due to the recall. If it was part of the recall, I would only look at one that has been replaced. The other parts seem like it needs to be replaced as time goes on, frames should not be a wear item.

Recalled frames were replaced by dealers and frequently involved replacing other things like fasteners and brake lines. I think a 1st Gen with a recall replaced frame is actually better. Just my $0.05

I've put 35k on my 04 since I bought it. Frame was replaced a year and a half before that. No issues that I've seen.

Below is what they replaced on mine.

I owned ‘00 with a replaced frame and IMO go find a truck from Texas or Florida with no rust history. The rust that caused the frame replacement lives on in other areas and shows its face every time you try and get some work done. A little traveling for a clean used southern truck is worth it
