Found out i need some bump stop extensions for the height of my icon's and figured I might as well upgrade the entire bump stop at the same time. What's everyone like for front bumps? what about the rear? Worth doing or should i bite the bullet and get the icon rear hydraulic kit (which Ill never use to its full potential).

Can you please elaborate a little more?

What about the Icon coilovers require a drop in the bump? I see Icons bring run by a lot of people, haven't seen them shim the bumps though.

The lift height should not affect your bump, the coilover dimensions affect this. The compressed total length would play factor to this.

Or, unless you swapped out springs for a longer length - then a shim would be needed to prevent coil bind.

    Edit:
So, after thinking about it....I get it, now it makes sense. Your block height changes as you add preload which is why they tell you not to preload past 2" of threads. Basically shaft is fully in the shock body when the block height is reached with 2" of preload.

icon sells a bump stop extension kit, it is recommended if your coil overs have over 2in of thread showing. Mine are at 2 1/4.

    Link?

All I see are shim kits for Raptors.

    Where is this recommendation noted?
Nvm, found where they tell you simply not to preload past 2" of thread, doesn't mention a shim.

Wheelers offroad sells bump shims or you can just install a washer in there. Bilstein provides simple washers with their 5100s.

6112 set at 1.9 and 1 inch of shims. Total lift is 3” but I used shims and that’s an automatic bumpstop extension. Not sure if you need them but if you do, the coachbuilder ones are quality and easy to install.

I have 5100s all the way around. The front is at top setting. I want to add (1) CB shim on front passenger side and (2) shims on driver's side. Do I need bump stops?

Is that how close your rear bumpstop is at ride height?

Is the CV Axel boot that stretched or is that designed so the creases don’t contact each other?

+1 for the wheelers front bump stops. Currently on a 2” leveling kit and by far they have been 100% more noticeable when going over large bumps. I feel like pictures don’t do justice to the size of the wheelers ones so I’ll leave this here for comparison. 7B16820D-87CE-4580-8142-904784F50E51.jpg

Your 5100s came with a shim that should have been installed to space your factory bump stop lower, they provide it because of coil block height issues when fully compressed.

As far as running an aftermarket bump stop, that is all personal preference but you don't need to. They compress to the same height as OE.

Look at the bump, is there a washer between it and the frame? If so, it's there. If not, then no.

One thing to consider when changing to aftermarket bumps.
Since most aftermarket (duros /superbumps / timbrens) engage sooner (Taller compared to OEM)to progressively dampen a full bottom-out condition, they take away the advantage of high end coilover adjust-ability
while more is typically better, the bump stops can start contacting the LCA after a 1-2in of suspension travel depending on if the truck is lifted or not.
Once contact is made the bumpstops abosorb energy and take it away from the coilover. This can be good or bad.
If you are bashing your truck and using the full suspension travel all the way to the OEM bumps then upgraded bumps are a good idea.
If you spent money on a good set of coilovers for overall ride improvement with no to minor lift, then you likely won't get to enjoy the fully ride benefits of the coilover because the bumpstop take over first.
While the most expensive option, Hydro-bump stops are the best way to go because they can be infinitely adjustable. ( travel/ pressure/initial contact can be adjusted per application)
