3/1.5 lift. TRD sway bar. Bakflip V1 cover. Fuel wheels w/BFG A/T.
I’ve had the performance tune installed for almost 4 months and absolutely love it! Throttle is way more responsive with a more “natural” feel to it. Stock I thought the throttle felt too heavy. Shifting is fast and very smooth. All positive results with no noticeable flaws. Highly recommend.

So higher octane = better fuel? I believe this has been proven to be a fallacy.

    Not enough space here...
Keep in mind if you run premium tune you need to run 91+ octane.

So I’ve run through a tank of 91 w performance tune now and wow I love it even more! Defiantly worth the extra $$ at the station lol.

Does running a tune void your warranty. I just got my truck but I wanna tune it if it allows it to shift better and get better gas mileage

Not all engines/tunes can take advantage of higher octane fuel, but yes, it is better.

I'm planning to take the leap. I was trying to better understand the differences between the GT & BDX models. Here is what I learned:
I spoke to a bullydog sales rep who seemed quite knowledgeable. I was told that both programmers do exactly the same things including the same three tune programs. The only difference is that the GT is designed to be left mounted to the dash or window to monitor parameters. The BDX is used to upload the tune and then put away until it is needed. Neither are touch-screen. No custom tunes for Toyota either.

Who has pics of the GT mounted? Curious as to where and how it stays put.

It mounts using a suction cup bendable arm. It stays put and doesn't move around at all except for a little vibration now and then. I have mine between the dash and the A pillar. The HDMI cable runs down to the driver side kick panel where I have everything mounted behind the kick panel. The cable is tucked away between the dash and the door frame so you can't even see it.

Not a very good pic but here you go.

The BDX can read and clear codes. From what I have read, the GT can't. Also read you could mess with Tire size calibration with the GT, where you can't on the BDX.

BDX is about the size of the old Zune mp3 player. The brick

Does the BDX read trans temps. I have heard that they can turn off seat belt beep. I would like to confirm before buying one.

The sales person told me that these tuners cannot correct tire size. Sounded like most of the features that are listed on the BD website aren't possible on the Toyotas.

Not entirely true. You absolutely can adjust the speed your speedo displays to compensate for larger tires.

    Yeah, GT Platinum.

    Menu/Vehicle Settings/Speed Display

My speedo matches my GPS speed within 1 mph so I haven't bother to use this feature.

Whats y'alls best setting? I forgot what setting I used but when downshifting it downshifted hard and wasn't a pleasant experience but it was also at sharp turns uphill and downhill, I never used premium tune with premium fuel so I'm gonna load the BD back into the truck and try it. The smooth shifting is part of the tune if Im not mistaken correct? Meaning no matter what tune you select, smooth shifting is in there? Post up yalls best or favorite settings.

Had this been known to me, my choice would have been GT Gas over the BDX.

Is the Platinum different than the GT? I don't see a GT platinum offered on the BD website. Maybe that's why I was told that the functions are more limited? I know that I've heard of that model before.

That's quite possible and I'm not really sure they are different.

I got mine from a member here on Tundras.com for $125 so it's possible the one I have might be a few years old. I can look at the packaging for the part number when I get home today. I do know that when you start the truck and the BD boots the splash screen says "GT Platinum Gas".
