If you're going to be in the Austin/San Antonio area on Jan 20-21, Shrek will be there tuning up the guys in Austin and San Antonio TundraCrew clubs.

DAP Tune. 1.5" level on front. Revolver X2 Roll Back. Firestone 2445 air bags. TRD sway bar.
Got my DAP tune today. Denise met me here locally to do the tune. So far here is what I have noticed:
From start - Much better smooth throttle response being smooth and not jerky like can be in tow/ haul mode. Take off is smooth but way more responsive than stock. 60-70mph passing is much better with quick down shift with only medium throttle increase. Drivability is much better right off the bat, and supposed to “learn and get better over the next few hundred miles”. I love it so far and can tell the extra power pulling through the gears. Not sure about mpg, but don’t really care or expect imcrease. Overall drivability is well worth it. I’ll update as I tend to get a little more aggressive with it after learning period. Thank you, Dustin. Www.daptuning.com. Best performance upgrade for your $ in my opinion.

Aoreu, I meant Dustin, not Denise.
    Stupid auto correct.

For those that have installed the DAP Tune, is there any way to verify, other than the vehicle's performance, that the tune installed successfully?

I've gotten an error every time I've tried to write the tune to the ECU. It makes it past the "programming ecu" screen, but when I go through the series of dash on/off commands, I get a "Wake Up Error [0x3000]" every time. When I connect the unit to the computer and fire up the software, click on the Info button, at the bottom of the pop up screen it tells me that the last file uploaded to the tuner is my Mod file, then it also says the ECU has been read but not written yet.

When I connect to tuner to the OBDII port, select Work, select Writing, I'm only given the option to write the Mod file. I've read elsewhere that after the Mod file is successfully written, I should have the option to write the Mod file and the original file to go back to stock. Can anyone confirm this? How do I revert back to the stock tune (haven't seen this procedure outlined anywhere)?

I did. Voice mail was full both times. I eventually got in touch with Dustin. Sounds like I might have a bad My Genius device. No fault of Dustin's. He's working on getting to the bottom of it.

I literally live less than 10 miles from the man. If he would have had the tune ready for the 2018's I would of done it already. In person tuning cant be detected by dealer. IMHO, best mod for the money. Why wait???:spending:go ahead and put your deposit down

Probably, but not for a while. Haven't even experienced how much sluggishness the 35's are going to give me. Getting them put on this week. I do see a re-gear in my future though...

You can drive to him. People drive hundreds of miles to get the tune in person and talk with him

I thought about it. Redding is about 180 miles away from me. 6 hours of driving does not sound that enticing.
But not having it detectable by a dealership doesn't sound bad. Does anyone know if the dealer does an update (like the trailer brake update) would it wipe the tune?

Those of you with an in person Tune, I have a question. So once he tunes your truck you are stuck with it. If for some reason you want to go back to stock tune , can you? Just means your stuck w the premium fuel only on that truck for the rest of its life?

Fortunately for me I only live 10 mins from Shrek and could have him remove the tune if that's something I would ever want to do. I'm not sure how you would handle that remotely (out of state) if you had an in person tune. I do not run premium fuel and don't plan to start. He told me that "the difference between 87 vs 93 octane is felt in the upper RPM range (4500-6000)." With that said you could gain what others have mentioned here and still run the lower octane and not be disappointed.

I have the remote tune, but from what I gather you are stuck with the in person tune until he removes it. Not sure if another tuner, like BD, could overwrite/override it. But yea, like WatTundra mentioned, you could still run lower octane and see some benefit. I like to run 88 ethanol free, but I've been running 91 since I got the tune. I'll go back to 88 ethanol free soon and see if my MPGs improve.

I was under the impression you have to run premium only. When I messaged him and asked him he replied fast premium fuel is required. Am I missing something? Are you ok to use 87 octane w his tune?
