Does anyone have a recommendation for a window tint brand? It's been awhile since I've tinted. I know not all film is created equal. Last time I tinted my truck the shop tried selling me on all sort of stuff that one brand offers over the other. I would like to know what you all think before being sold on a bogus claim.

    Any recs would be appreciated.

Xpel is a good brand for window tint and ppf. Abit costly though.

As others have said, visit your local shops.

Our two “main shops” in the area have XPEL and Kavaca. I had the one shop do XPEL, been a fan of their products for years, with both PPF and their top tint. However, I wasn’t thrilled with the install of the tint due to “application errors.”

With that said, I’m going to the other shop to have the Kavaca installed on my other vehicle. That will also be a ceramic based tint. Although a newer shop, they seem to have a happier client base.

    Good Luck!!

Xpel does a very fine job marketing ….and also make a good product but with tinting it comes down to the hands that are installing. Most shops brag about a computer cut system and tell you they can do your car in a hour. Been installing film for a long time …handcut patterns, patience, and steady hands is the key to a good install.

Just curious…did you take back the work and point out some concerns??
To me “application errors” sounds like the installer should try again and not be sour about a little material waste…a happy customer is worth a lot more!

Tinting is a learned talent. My years in the 12v industry taught me that anyone can “apply” precut tint. Talent and quality come from years of hands on experience.

Also I’m a LLumar fanboy but I’ve settled on maddico as of lately.

I went with 3M window tint from Sun Control of Minnesota. They are a trained and certified 3M installer.

Wasn't familiar with the Global QDP ceramic until I saw the postings here but it sure seems nice. Do you mind if I ask what is cost to do our truck? I would be doing crewcab 4 side windows and rear glass.

Region can swing cost but right now for a crew cab pickup we are in the 400-450$ range. SE NC is where I call home
Some of the other brands mentioned are def solid but so much of a install depends on the installer. I find the global really think & durable from a installer standpoint (good scratch resistance coating) & have received a lot of good feedback this summer season with its performance
