I recently had new brakes done on my 2007. Pads and rotors. Just a couple weeks since the work was done, I noticed a couple times when I brake very hard, I hear a noise at the point when the most pressure is on the brakes. Not quite a grinding and it happened only a couple times. I am checking with the mechanic but wondered if anyone knew what it might be. Thanks in advance.

have them double check the work. don't mess with brakes ...

i have had new brakes which made some noise for a few days and then it went away ... other than that, they were fine! we checked parts and every thing else ... all ok and we attributed it to maybe the break-in period????

also maybe pads with too much metal in them ... make sure they put in the right pads!

Ive hit mine hard a few times and I am not used to the ABS letting the pressure off (my old Taco didn't have ABS) and I was a bit concerned too. Since new rotors and pads were installed and the truck is "really breaking good" now the ABS makes sense letting the brakes off a bit / letting the wheels turn a bit with a lot of pad pressure on the rotors / thus making noise.

I was a bit freaked out at first when mine "sounded weird" when braking hard but the ABS makes perfect sense and this Im pretty sure is whats going on. My wife's 2014 FJ sounds exactly the same way when you hit the brakes hard.

Ive visually checked my rotors and pads a couple of times now when the wheels were off and everything looks brand new (only 28k miles now). I was considering new rotors and pads but will let these stock ones go till they need to be replaced.

I think I kicked my ABS in for the first time today. Sounded like something was going to rattle off the bloody thing. Not a very smooth process...

I forgot to turn off my nannies before I went up to Mt Evans last Sunday. Was testing out my new Coopers. First hairpin my ABS went skitzoid..Can be startling at best. Pulled over first spot I could and shut the ABS down.
