My guess it that it could have been caused by suspension issues.

They have ridges in them but most shops can't turn them because they are slotted.

had a set of stoptech slotted rotor on the previous sequoia and one side was warped after less than 5,000 miles. Normal driving. Bedded in correctly also.. Tried to get it turn but being slotted, they can't turn it.. so that went down the tube.
For the tundra i just did the Advic and akebono combo.. so far so good. Over 10k miles and no sign of warped...although i would like to try better pads next time. something a little more grippy..

The pads that I showed in the cart? I have another set of pads in the garage that I used with the StopTechs but I will have to see which ones they are. What pads are you looking at next?

    I use the ProAct pads.

Those are the ones that I have in the cart in Post #28. I should get something different?

They works just fine, imo.. i had the hawk pads (lite truck) and liked those.. they get grippier when they are warmed up.. dusting is ok, i had dark rims so they weren't.

I like the advic combo due to the "no bedding" required straight out of the box. The included instruction also states, no bedding needed.. slap on, go easy on them first couple hundred miles.. avoid sudden stop when possible...etc..

Gotcha. I will most likely go with the combo that i listed. OEM rotors are backordered at alot of dealers and StopTechs are no longer in production.

For daily, it's not an issue. Can't go wrong with that combo.. i've only done the front. When the rear is needed, i will get the same combo.

I would use advics over akebono act pads; i have never liked akebono act on trucks.

If you are ok with much more brake dust, the Dynamic Friction Ultimate Duty pads have better grab and stopping power than most of the Rockauto options. Presently using them on my 2019.

Has anyone ever tried the Land Cruiser 200 rotors from Toyota? They are a different part number and show made in Japan (online, would probably need to confirm with at a dealership).

They will definitely fit since they the brake setups are identical on both platforms and ADVICS has the same part number for both trucks.

    Tundra PN:
    42431-0C011
    43512-0C020

    LC200:
    42431-60290
    43512-60180

ADVICS PN for LC200 and Tundra:
    A6R049
    A6F048

Same thing is true for the brake pads as well.

I like the Raybestos Element 3 rotors and pads. I have used them on 5 cars in the family and all are good.

I had stoptech and now on hawk talons. Prefer hawk, they bite a little better and have less fade.

Once on my front left wheel, one of the caliper pistons was stuck and caused some grooving on the rotor.

Just ordered a set of OEM rotors during the sale that started today. These will work until I go with a better rotor for towing. However, I need to look at the pads that I have in the garage. They may be good for towing with OEM rotors.

Those pictures are all from the same rotor? How much pad is left and do you have the wear indicators still on the pads?

Those pics are the passenger side. There is quite a bit of pad left and the indicators are still on. They are just under a year old.

Frozen just replied back and wants me to call them. He said it looks like pad material and that the pads are not retracting with the caliper. This is the drivers side. Hard to see with the shade.

The one that goes around the pins? Or the metal clips that sit between the end of the pads and the caliper?

I had good luck with ebc rotors and land cruiser pads on my first setup. When the time came to replace them I noticed the ebc website now stated that they no longer used rotors cast in the USA or UK so I went with DBA rotors and hawk LTS pads this time. I also had the pads locally cryo treated when I had my 5.29s done as well. This current setup is wearing very well and is quiet, only downside is the associated dust from semi metallic pads.

I instaled the power stop z36 rotors and pads that I bought from rock auto in August of 2024. I have about 17,000 miles on them and I'm super happy with them so far. I drive in the mountains so lots of ups and downs and zero signs of warping. Currently for front and rears they will run you $350 on rock auto.
