As we all know YOU cant troubleshoot intermittent problems. Well I have one with my Tundra. I have had this intermittent brake controller message + ABS light + Check engine light + intermittent speedometer and cruise control. With all of that going on, there is not change to the operation of the truck. Sometimes the lights stay on for a few days to weeks sometimes its off for few days to weeks. 've seen a lot of issues with this junk. I've only towed my Jet Ski twice and on neither occasion did I have the fault Yet. I don't want to dump a bunch of money into a mystery fix, especially if its a DIY issue. Please inform if anybody knows a resolutions. Thanks in advance

I bypassed my whole OEM brake controller all together. In short, it’s junk.

Go aftermarket, save yourself the headaches

There is an brake controller update the dealer can do. It improved mine but I still didn't care for how it worked even with the update and went with Teckonsha P3. Very happy with the aftermarket unit.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! Good luck finding and correcting the issue. Looks like others have started you down the right track.

when you bypassed it what all is involved? Can you simply disconnect the OEM controller and not use it?

Did the aftermarket one get wired into the factory plug? Or is there a plug and play option?

thanks in advance. I have been wondering about upgrading, just curious what all was involved.

    Exactly!

    Unplug old harness under dash.
Plug in new controller and install. I mounted the new controller to the lower dash just under the OEM controller panel.

    Takes about 10 minutes.
