Finally get some time to go bow hunting this weekend. Just got a new bow and I am itching to try it on a tasty deer. Looks like my weather is gonna be windy on Friday, but the temps are starting to come down so they will hopefully be moving.

Where do you live? I went out last weekend in Ohio and had a buck grunting and literally running back and forth mirroring a doe. Seemed too warm and early for the rut but it was hard to ignore the evidence.

It has finally cooled off here so I think the deer are really going to start running.

The bears have been moving in PA. We took 3 archery black bears at my camp this past week. We have not been seeing deer like we are used to; we are figuring that the growing bear population is part of the cause. I got mine yesterday with a 10 yard shot.

A343837F-0CCC-405F-A53E-0A8272B73EF3.jpg Ended up getting two deer on Saturday. My buck was an 11pt. Missed a huge 12 the night before right before shooting light was over. Hit a woody vine coming off a tree that I didn’t see.

Here’s my bear. I had to lift my crossbow slightly to avoid a limb that wasn’t in view of the scope. Had I not lifted, my bolt would have hit the limb and missed the bear. Learned from past experiences.

Damn that is cool. If I were hunting bear tho, I would feel more comfortable giving it lead poisoning. You eat that thing?

I have killed 2 with a rifle (last year I hit one in the back of the neck and destroyed the skull), one with a bow in Maine (Pope and Young record book bear), and this one with a crossbow.
Bear meat is one of my favorite wild game meats. I hunt in an area where the bears are eating what the forest provides, not out of a dumpster.
I’ve had several close encounters with bears, and they never cease to amaze me.

I've been out a few times this season, no Mr. Big yet... spikey and does are hitting the corn for the last couple months (older photos); it's legal in my state to use corn.
