    Hey Guys....

    I'm a new owner of a 2010 Tundra 4x4 CrewMax 5.7L with about 99k miles so far.

I found a "great" deal in Tampa. Had some credit on Delta so flew down, looked her over and drove home back to Atlanta. Drove strong and straight all the way... 7hrs - 500miles!

It's got a 3" lift, intake, wheels and some semi-style lights across the top (not a huge fan of those.. but whatever) Near the intake I see a couple of Transformer stickers, so I'm trying to determine what more has been done in that area.

It seems I have some issues now that I've spent some quality time in my new ride.

    Simple stuff...
    • seat cushion on drivers side torn - $175 estimate from local upholstery shop.
    • fog light bulb out... figured I'd upgrade to LEDs or something better anyway
    • brakes seem squishy.. not as tight as I'd like, but pads seem to be new.

    Major stuff...
    • although my inspection showed no leaks, 500 miles later it seems I have a blown steering rack. Fluid all over passenger wheel well. Two estimates so far in the $2k range, and one mechanic that tells me to pour a bottle of Lucas ATF sealer in it.
    • now that I've seen multiple threads on rust, I'm wondering how much I have, and should I be concerned. Some rust under bed cover and light stuff underneath (I hope)
Here's my first pic... glad to have a new addition and looking forward to any advice you guys have.

Welcome from CO. @csuviper has info on replacement steering rack. Get some decent seat covers. Surface rust is not a big issue either. Just make sure its surface rust. Easy to treat.

Worst case senario... You end up changing out your steering rack! I never had any issues using it. My son even used it on his Honda Civic and fixed his leak too. That was about a year ago.

Good point... I was wondering about the pump. I've seen one post that mentioned the thick consistency might make the pump work harder.

Seat cushion is always torn on drivers side....unless you play for the Harlem Globetrotters. Or have foot rail to help get in. I am just over 6’ tall and have to leap in mine(no lift)

Need to add rails. Once I get these issues worked out... that's the first mod. I'm open to suggestions on those too!

Glad to see you're a fan! Growing on me I guess...wondering about potential leaks.

Probably looks better on a lifted truck. Mine is used for hauling...so it will stay stock.

Why in Hell has no one suggested to convert the OP's trucker convoy lights to brighter LEDs??? I kind like the look. They are already there... .

I just put those on my truck and find that they are helpful for getting in but kinda difficult when exiting the truck. It's not high on my list right now but if I come across another set of oem boards I like I'll probably change them out.

Welcome... Silly question... Are you 100% sure it's the rack? I had a CV boot with a tiny tear in it and it covered the wheel well. Much cheaper to repair

Welcome from CO. Post up photos of any questionable rust so we can help determine if it’s surface. Humidity in FL, as you know can begin rust. That being said, if it’s small- may just scrape off and then get the undercarriage treated with fluid film.

btw I like the running lights just the way they are, the light color matches the parking and mirror lights. while it's not something I would add - since they're already there, I'd let them be.
