Any recommendations on a shop in San Diego to do the body mount chop and weld?

Shouldn't be to pricey. The material is cheap and labor is 2-3 hours ? They can probably give you a quote over the phone.

Am I the only one with an angle grinder and 220V welder on here?

Easy job if you have minimal fabrication skills.

I think that's a major part in this. Not many have access to a welder nor the skills to cut and weld up the plate. You're right, not a hard job with the correct equipment.

Carrying over from TW try this Jason -
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ars-rack-cmcs-certified-welder-so-cal.379771/
Over on TW he goes by @glorifiedwelder. Does great work too

    There's also Ryan -
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...nts-cb-ant-mounts-suspension-installs.374697/
    He's @shmellmopwho on TW.

(sorry, spent a lot of time on the other forum, I don't yet know Tundras.com guys in your area)

Agreed - I did mine with an angle grinder and a Miller 110V mig welder.

That will be spendy. You can plan on 8-1000.00 for a panel upgrade.

You can always use the dryer outlet if the laundry is next to the garage. That is my current setup for about 20 more days.

    Well that sucks man.

The panel upgrade takes about 8 hours to complete depending on how many circuits you have.

Speaking of that, are you running tandem breakers on your 120V feeds? That can open up your panel to fit a couple 40A breakers for the welder.

Another cheaper route is doing a sub panel.

i'll just put the welder in the bedroom. bec will love it.

yes, there are tandem breakers in a few spots. spa tub and master bath heated floors. neither of which get used. might be a few others.

too many other things to try and cover right now. day job is unstable then roxy is going to russia and our oldest is going to savannah college of art and design this summer. house upgrades are way on the back burner.

    gotta win the powerball.

She will love it. Come on in with your welding jacket, welding hood on, sweat and flux splatter smell...whip out your welding leads... She will be like butter to the fire.

At this point, I would look at used gas/diesel units.
