Sorry if this has already been discussed on here, but on my 2020 tundra at when does the block heater kick in? I have heard that it won’t turn on until the temp hits -21 Celsius. Is this correct

If they're plugged in they're on. May I ask from whom you heard this other information from?

Someone I know has a 2015 tundra and he claims the block heater only works at -21c or colder

I suspect that this person is in error. Plug yours in for a couple hours, then open the hood and wave your hand around the driver side back by the firewall and see if anything feels warmer than the surrounding air temperature, unless you have an infrared thermometer, then just use that. If you are fortunate enough to park in a garage with a clean floor, crawl underneath and feel about on the driver side there, that's actually where the heater is located.

From what I've read, most Canadian Toyota Tundras come standard with an engine block heater. Unless they also include some fancy ambient temper sensing electronics and relays, I would expect that yours functions identical to mine.

I recommend plugging it in at -20C or colder. As said above, it runs any time it's plugged in. I bought a timer for mine but you could just leave it plugged in all night if you don't mind paying for the power.

Yup, it's on if it's plugged in.

I have mine on a timer as it doesn't need to run 24/7. A few hours before needied is good. I have mine set to have power when dark, so it's ready for me in the am.
