    Hi all,

    Anyone run into this?

the odometer just reads ODO. Trip A & B appear to work but no numbers in the ODO section.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Can you post a picture?

The odometer value is stored in a chip in the cluster. I would assume you could have issues with yours. Trip A,B just count up as a distance signal comes in from the wheel speed sensors.

I just upgraded to an opitron cluster I'll sell you my used cluster that shows 192k miles.

Looks like your epromm chip that stores the milage is messed up.

As stated above you most likely have a problem with the small chip that stores the odometer value on cluster circuit board.

I have several benchtop clusters, when I power all of them on the Odo value is always displayed. The value is stored internally in the cluster.

Replacing your cluster is probably the best option. You could pull it apart and look at the board for damage to the chip. Some of the online odometer correction places might be able to fix/replace the chip if you send it off to them.

Thanks @Jeff_5_7 silly question, but how can I tell what cluster works for me? I have the 4x4 option and maybe a few other items that would be needed to see on the dash. or did Toyota make 1 option for manual and 1 option for automatic and everything is plug and play.

    is part number
“838000CB00” correct for my application with an automatic gearbox?

What's the process to remove the cluster? any good videos?

    @chrisf111 I'll send you a PM

You pull the lower dash out first, then at the corners pull until you can get at the switches and unplug them. You need a small screw driver to pop the "leather" shroud? between the bottom of the upper dash & steering column housing.

There are 4 10mm bolts holding the cluster in.

I can r&r them in under 3 minutes now.

You don't even need to pull the lower dash. You can just pull the cluster surround. Then the 4 10mm bolts, one electrical plug on the back. Done in less than 5 minutes. All 07-13 clusters should work with the exception of flex fuel models.

The lower dash is in the way to put it back together properly, it's a few clips & makes it much easier.

I just changed my cluster 2 days ago and put it together properly without touching the lower dash.

That being said the process to take off the lower dash only takes a few minutes.

Yes that is the correct part number. Toyota has several versions depending on options. Unfortunately when replacing you will have to get the new odometer reprogrammed to match your old one. Do you know pretty close to how many miles should be on your truck?

    Yours:

    Part Number: 838000CB00
    Fits TUNDRA

    W/o towing package, 5.7L, w/o Limited.

I do not know the millage. What's involved in reprogramming? I'm pretty handy and that would not be an issue to do it myself.

I have heard rumors the a secondary mileage value may be stored in the engine or body ecu and can read with a deep dive using techstream.

Any used cluster you buy will have its own odometer value. To correct it to match your truck you have to rewrite the EEPROM value in the same chip that failed on yours.

You can buy another cluster and get it corrected. (Requires reading/writing the microchip with a serial reader)

OR you can try to send you broken one off to the guys who do the correction and get them to put a new chip on it.

I think I would have some more peace of mind if popped the cluster out and looked for damage to the circuit board/chip currently

I have a 189,932 K mile 2010 SR5 2WD cluster OP can have for actual shipping (under 10 bucks I bet) it has the 4wd functions, and they work on my 2013 Sequoia.

    YMMV

Also, I literally just R&R'd the cluster in under 3 minutes including the lower and taking these pictures.

Jeff, apparently the 2010 is getting CAN data somewhere else, I have the CAN CEL

Woah... that is a weird glitch to have. Seems like the community is here to help. I do believe there is a requirement to report this to the DMV if you change clusters and the odometer no longer accurately represents the actual milage. Not saying you should do this. Just throwing it out there.

I have replaced several clusters, I had the correct miles set on the new one.

The key thing is not to try to defraud anyone. As long as you are not caught trying to hide it you're okay (in my understanding). Things happen/parts break/etc that require new clusters to be installed. I got a sticker like this from ebay that I will put on my passangers side door per DMV to show an incorrect mileage. I know also that at least in FL vehicles over a certain age are exempt from reporting mileage.
