The old firing range rounds date back to 1943. 77 years ago. Petrified wood.....older

This piece is highly agatized. One side still has the bark.20201004_151459.jpg 20201004_151516.jpg

This petrified Kamlooper Spoon that I found today was used by pre cavemen to catch megalodon sharks that were quite prolific here back then......:burp::cheers:x20201004_153649.jpg

That yellowish striping just below the layer of bark is petrified xylem or phloem cells. Part of the vascular system of the tree. Quite kuul actually if you are into this sort of "thing".
Xylem vascular system allowed water and nutrients to only flow upward from the roots. Phloem vascular system was both directions of flow. Pretty much the same today actually.

Since I'm still in my Nat Geo mode....this piece has an outer thin layer of limestone. This whole area was under an ocean millions of years ago. Hence the layer of limestone that formed.. 20201004_171940.jpg front side20201004_171953.jpg back side. Kuul...right?? :burp:

My grandson loves broccoli and Spanish anchovies right out of the tin. o_O
Got tired of over paying for those small grocery store tins. Had A Prime bring him a big ass 14oz tin today...heh...heh The tin is over an inch deep. $7.44:thumbsup:

Welp......taught my grandson how to shoot his Daisy Buck 105. A bit too long for him but he surprised me. I set cans about 30 feet away. Missed the first few shots but with a little coaching on how to line up the sights he started plinking them! I set him up shooting right handed but he switched to lefty. Turns out he's a lefty like me. HA! He's only 5. Learned how to use the safety. Had a bit of a hard time cocking it a first. A good shot actually. He wasn't using a rest either...little fart did good!20201011_104227.jpg 20201011_105221.jpg 20201011_105305.jpg 20201011_113045.jpg

Very wise parents! I was forced to write right handed in school back in the day. "They" even tried to switch me to throwing right handed. Result....I can, throw, swing a bat, and shoot right and left handed.

Thanks George! I get Fur-Fish-Game magazine. For years. Decades actually. Manny likes it now too. The magazine covers are so great. Pretty much a trappers mag but has great hunting and fishing articles too....

Thats awesome! I remember the Boys Life magazines when I was a kid. Truck is coming along. Waiting for the 8 inch BA exhaust. The 5.7 is a beast compared to the 4.6. :D

I recently subscribed to Boy's Life magazine. Manny is too young but never too early. I was a Boy Scout and read Boy's Life over 50 years ago. Life rank. I also get American Rifleman, Outdoor Life, Field & Stream, Pop Mech, Pop Science, Cal Lab Magazine, and Scientific American . Scientific American to put me to sleep......

Decided to hit the Reservoir today. Went to a new spot. Water level is the lowest this time of year. Score!
Pic #1 is more 50 cal and 25mm rounds and wood.
    Pic #2 is petrified bark!
Pic #3 is four type of trees.
Pic #4 is a bit unusual. Opalized. Most pieces I find there are agatized.
