Went to the Phoenix Gold Mine just west a bit from the old Stanley copper stamping mill. Gold and silver but primarily copper even though within a few miles away as the crow flies was the massive amount of gold found at Central City and Blackhawk. So much gold was found at Central City a mint was founded in Denver. Still there to this day minting coins. Lots of silver was mined here too back in the day and went to the mint after processing. FYI...look for rare gold or silver coins with a "D" on it from 1870's and up a few years from that era. Google Argo mine too.

























By the way...the veins pictured in the mine are gold,silver, copper, sulfate, peacock pyrite. 2 to 7 ounces per ton. The newer Resurrection vein is much more...the old miners didn't find all the gold.....a lot left...

 

Was out and about near Red Rocks this morning and a freaking B-17 flew over. Not too many of those bad ass birds left...time warp for a few minutes.....

Public Service Announcement....

Several months ago my parking proximity sonar system gave up the bucket. Not a big deal because I know how to park without nannies although the parking sonar system can be quite handy at times. I'd get all sensors flashing on the screen in red for a few seconds then the "Take to the dealer" bullshit. I had time to kill after work today before I had to pick up my grandson from the afterschool Boys&Girls Club. Proximity sensors rarely fail, especially all of them at once. Sure, you can get snow, ice, and mud on them and one or more will act up but not a total system failure. I'm not OCD obsessed about too many things, especially the parking sonar system but I did pay for it so I tackled this issue. Finally! No pics required for this other than the CRC 3-36 pic. Grab a small cloth towel. Spray the CRC on each sensor. Wipe off residue with towel. Wait 15 minutes or so. Might have been 30 minutes. Sure enough, my parking sonar system was good to go. I could have done this months ago but what the hell. It worked. Moral of the story....spend a few bucks on the CRC 3-36. WD-40 will work too. No need to spend $200 or more easy at the dealer. The Yota tech prolly does the same thing, but I won't any go further with that.

 

Big game for the Ducks tomorrow I just saw. I’ll be rooting for them, f%#%k Ohio state.

 

The Ducks need to play a lot better than last Saturday, especially going into the "Shoe". Ohio State gets over rated a lot over the years. Ducks might be over rated this year. Lots of football to play. Alabama has Mercer at home...lol. It's that time of year!

 

Yeah, a lot of teams seemed to not play well opening Saturday. Including my Badgers, who are also over rated. And agree OSU always is as well. But they always seem to be in the hunt in the end.

Went to the Off Grid Expo today. Already posted some pics on the Colorado BS thread. Had a great time. Commiserated a bit with Hugo, from @ Toytec. He was representing today. Good people. The best. Knows his s**t! Entrance ticket for me was only $9 since being a Veteran. Manny was free. Everybody got a nifty bag with a Frog&Co medium dry bag and an Expo sticker. Even Manny. The dry bag sells for $19.97 on Frogs site. I got 2 raffle tickets. Lots of cool rigs, overland campers of all sized and budgets. I was at the Reservoir yesterday which was near the Expo but 97 degrees. Waited until today to go. Way cooler. Got there at 10 am. Met a lot of nice folks. Bought a couple of airlounj's. Quite kuul. Won a Cabela's 25 Polar Cooler at the noon raffle. Top prize. Called my ticket last. Overall, a good day!

 

Packers did suck today. Badly.....
Plenty of games left.

Sweet ride haas

 

Ended up going Dusky grouse hunting this morning. Went to Castle Rock yesterday to pick up a set of bed rail cleats. The "rock" was nearby so we took the trail up. Kuul but freaking hot. Bagged one Dusky hen this morning with a .22 Crossman pellet. A royal pain. Came across 6 or 7 and they scattered in all directions into heavy whortleberrys under dense spruce. Little f**kers. If I had my .410 I would've bagged the 3 per day limit in a couple minutes. Ha! Manny had his Daisy bb. He was shooting at them sort of. The hen I bagged flushed up into a spruce and got a clear shot. Going back up next weekend. Lots of grouse. Tempted to take my .410 but much more sporting with the pellet rifle. But......

 

Just got back from Dakota "Hill" again. A 10,925 ft "hill'. Lol. Took the Crosman .22 singleshot pellet rifle again. Flushed up a grouse hen straight away near a spring.. Flew high up into some spruces. I spent about 10 minutes eyeballing and finally spotted it 40 ft up. Dead still. Fired off a pellet and it fell! Hit it in the neck. Dead before it hit the ground. Went further up the hill. Nothing. Headed back down and not far from where I parked and fucked up my right rear bumper a bit, I accidentally flushed out a snowshoe hare! Hopped about 20 feet into some whorrtle berry bushes. It was still mottled grey but it's paws had turned white already. Going back up next weekend. I'm liking this pellet rifle a lot. Haven't even mounted the 4X32 scope on it yet. Oh...the Aspens are turning color up high. Quite nice. Glad Fall is finally here!

 

Decided to make a change with this thread title. It's not about me or my Tundra. Ha!

 

Dakota Hill again. No grouse this morning. Had an early shot but missed. Flew up into some tall tight spruces. Lucky grouse. Decided to take Manny a bit further east on the "Hill." Always see grouse on the Eastside but not today. The thing is that on the Eastside there is an old mine that the occasional hunter might come across. Showed Manny. One mine adit, "entrance", is partially collapsed that used to go directly, horizontally into the hill. About 40 ft east of the horizontal adit is a vertical adit. Semi covered up. Old timber lined to about 20 ft down. There's an old wood ladder that accesses a shaft into darkness. There's a metal brace still there that was hand cranked to bring the ore bucket up. Not far from this adit there are several old trenches dug out where the miners followed a surface quartz vein. Prolly why they dug a bit "deeper." I'm going to find out who has the claim. There is a claim stake with a 35mm film container with a paper claim info. Below this old mine is an old miners cabin still used and obvious fresh blasting going on near some new mining. I know this from several years ago while elk hunting. Heard some big ass blasts happening. Big blasts. I actually found unused blasting caps while hunting here previously.

 

Well it's been a great ride here all these years. I just picked up a new 2022 redesigned Frontier. 9/21 build date. This one was in the showroom. Glacier White. 3.8L
direct injection V6. 310 hp. 281 torque. Best in class. A new 9 speed transmission with sequential shift. Fully boxed frame. Front and rear anti sway bars. Hydraulic steering. Hill climb and descent assist. 1290 payload. Tow/Haul mode. Stereo doesn't suck at all. 8" screen. This is my 5th truck purchased from Tynan's Nissan. First Nissan! I nixed the deal this morning. Wanted more for trade and lower interest. Got a call from Tynan's around 2:30 from Adam Tynan! Said he was aware of my truck buys from them. Asked me to come back. I did. Better interest and more for trade value. That sealed the deal! I'll be posting here on this thread and my prostate thread. White is the fastest color after all!

Same here! Nissan currently has an auto exchange program going on. Dealers need good used inventory. Trade your good clean vehicle and they put you in a new one. Gave me much more than KBB/CarMax after some haggling. As long as I have the Frontier serviced at Tynan's.....FULL LIFETIME WARRANTY! No need to spend extra $ for extended warranty. Free oil changes for 3 years too. All the scuff panels have carbon fiber-like shields. A dealer option.
