Several years ago while I was out looking for mushrooms, this old hippie looking dude was only picking those. Didn't care about the edible ones. They were quite the rage here in CO back in the 70's. Apparently some hold over hippies still around. Not legal either I'm thinkin.

Forgot this pic. My antenna is 8 ft high. Cleared. Barely. I always have my trusty Husqvarna chain saw just in case. I've had to cut up a few wind fall trees a couple of times here over the years to get thru this stretch. Soggy hillside.

Some pics I took today at Apex. Old mining town. Took a lot of gold out of here. Last pics are up and over behind Oregon/Dakota Hills. Lots of decent wheeling trails with a view.

Looks amazing to me, we have a lot of similar back country exploration choices up my way as well, not sure my 07' will be ready to tackle this kind of terrain until next year but you have me seriously thinking! Cheers "Mateluth"

A little more clearance goes a long ways. I bet your area has a lot of cool places to go "Cultus" [IMG]

Yes sir! And how much clearance are we talking about to do those "back country discovery routes" in your Tundra? I may need to make a few adjustments to my plan :)

I have roughly 3" up front, 2" on the rear. Still maintained a rake. Plus the additional height added with my tires . The only thing that scraped yesterday were my Body Armor steps. Everything else cleared. Full skids at some point to be safe. I have a better idea where I can or can't go now.

My 07' will come in very close to that once the Bilsteins are in front and back, plus the CB shackles. Put the new wheels and tires on today :) Also took a shot from the bow of the boat this afternoon so you can see some of the local geography in our BC backyard :canada:

Nice. Very nice. I love BC. You have a spare room for rent?? A space in the boat house? (If you don't have a boat house, build one for me to stay in. I'll need a stove. heh..heh)
You have the right color by the way.:canada::oldglory::cheers:

I just book marked that site by the way. Nice. Who knows? My next "real" vacation will be up that way. Not sure when, but always wanted to go back to BC. I didn't see free Cheezies listed though. That could be a deal breaker.

You are having way too much fun! Those mushroom pictures are crazy... The only kind I've seen down here are the sickly white ones that grow after a rain. So how and why did you get into meteorology?

Those white mushrooms will make you pretty sick. I'm a Metrologist. Metrology is the science of measurement.(Calibration). It gets confused a lot with meteorology..weather science. After finishing USMC Aviation fundamentals and Basic Electrical/Electronics in Millington, TN I was asked if I wanted to go to Lowry AFB, CO to attend PMES/L school. Precision Metrology Equipment Specialist School. Only three Marines were being selected to go each month at that time. I was still into climbing back then, loved the mountains, liked wheeling, camping, and was not far from Red Rocks. Took me 2 seconds to answer yes. 1978. Still doing it. I've calibrated a lot of different stuff over the years. You get a real understanding of how things work/get made. I heard a welder state one time that nothing would get built, fly, etc on the planet without welders. NOT...That welder couldn't get built or even work without us Metrologists. Everything pretty much needs to get measured, verified, and calibrated. Compared to a known standard. Everything. Otherwise it is a worthless piece of junk.

Zero grouse today. (Hoping there wasn't a bad spring hatch. Lots of late spring snow) Still found time to play up on a Michigan Hill JP trail. 11000ft. trail (130 year old mining road) not on any map. My Tundra is too big for these trails, but I don't care too much. Once again the only truck up there was me with the JPs, FJ, and the same 90 5280 Krawler Cherokee I saw last weekend on Dakota "Hill". I usually see a few trucks up there during bow season which is going on now. Going up again tomorrow. I'll be happy to show anyone around up there if you are ever in the neighborhood. Too nice to post exact location. Sorry.

I snapped off my front drivers side fog light doing what seemed like 100 point turn around. There were some large mine tailing rocks I couldn't see or feel apparently and I must of hit them perfectly to snap off that light while trying to get turned around. I replaced the light and beefed up the brackets. Time to head back up for some late afternoon grouse hunting. Doesn't appear to be raining as much up there like yesterday.

Saw that broken wing in your photos, but reading about the 100 point turn had me laughing out loud up here because it brought to mind...

We haven't camped since the boys were... well boys, and now we are grandparents - but we are headed out next weekend for a week of tenting so we are practicing setting up the new big agnes tent (in our driveway because we don't have a yard) so we don't completely fumble around in the dark!

Nice tent. Powers made the best 3 point turn in history.

I didn't go to my property where I couldn't get cell service with Sprint. I recently switched to Walmarts Straight Talk $45 monthly plan, $39 LG Sunset GSM smartphone. I get a signal every where I go now since Straight talk is contracting to all the carriers. Tossed my 2 year old $400 iphone with the rest of the stuff into my "I'll never use this again " drawer. (I'll recycle it) I get full bars up at my friends property. Got zero signal up there with Sprint. (hint...hint)

Sure wish we had that option up here! We get totally hosed $$$ in Canada for cell, cable, wifi, hardware and so on... on costs, content selection, package options, etc. Just not enough real competition due to government regs - $100's of dollars per month, about the same cost as our first mortgage in 1986 which was at 9.9%!!
