I have never had this problem before with any vehicle. I thought the new paints and clear coats would eliminate this problem, but I have 3 distinct blemishes on the top of my cab from bird crap, even after washing, polishing and waxing! Big blemishes too.. Several square inches apiece. A Pterodactyl must have let loose on my truck.

They are apparently chemical burns. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I won't lose any sleep over it, but I just want to know if there is a way to get this off my 1 year old truck. Damned birds...

Cement color. There appears to be micro cracks in the clear coat or paint.

I will post some tomorrow. I honestly can't believe the blemishes they left! I washed it off as soon as I noticed too.

I have one right on my door(airport, in the hot sun for a week). it looks like the acid in the bird poop scored the paint. I'm watching this thread..

This very thing happened to my Tundra. Right on the hood, visible every day.

Repainting was the only way to resolve.

Not a material scientist but from what I gathered it's the paint bonding with the acidic, hardening poop.

Either way, there's no way around it unless you repaint or somehow cover the other 99% in poop too.

    Option 2 gets my vote.

I keep a bottle of instant detailer to take care of them ASAP. That said I have gone so far as to wet sand the paint and they don’t come out. Fresh paint seems to be the only way to fix it.

I've got a little poop damage in my truck. Have tried to let it go but it drives me nuts every time I wash it

Bird poop is nasty stuff. If you have a 'blemish', its likely that its already etched the clearcoat.

Had this happening too, white wing doves nested on Pecan tree next to driveway every night, next day I was washing off everyday for few months, got tired of doing, I liked the tree for shade from mid-day to late afternoon, oh well, hacked all limbs that covered driveway, no more bird poop

Bird poop sucks but at least your truck isnt black. Mine is and it's so fast the paint can't stay on it.

Birds suck. One benefit of white is that it doesn't appear to show any blemishes.

I have had turkeys crap on my truck, but it seems like the pigeons are the ones that can coordinate with each other to focus their loads on the truck.

Sorry for the delay guys, I will get some pictures up. I tried again with the polishing compound, and a follow-up with Turtle Wax. No luck, same blemishes :rain: I have never had this issue in the past, at least that I noticed. I guess they are indeed chemical burns on my clear coat and paint. It is clearly separation and micro cracking that is deeper than the clear coat. Damn. Fortunately, they are only on the roof, at least for now.

I don't what these birds eat?! How can such small birds cover such a huge area when they poo?

Had a friend w/ a Jeep that his neighbors cat loved to sit on. He got a rubber snake, hooked it through those loops on the hood & left it up there. Cat stopped sitting on the Jeep after the snake took residence.

Rubber snake on your roof? maybe a fake hawk dangling off a fishing pole in the bed/ fluttering in the wind.

It’s the acid in the birdshit. Birds don’t have bladders so they shit and piss out of the same hole all at the same time. This unholy concoction creates a sticky bomb of Uric acid which in turn burns holes in your paint or roof or whatever.

Saw a goose sitting on top of a car today with a few goose poops next to it. Had a little laugh thinking about this thread. Guessing its not as bad as bird since its more solid poo.

So, here are some pictures... There is a lot going on in the pictures between the reflection of the perlins and the corrugated roofing, but the hazy parts in the centers of the picture show the damage. Two polishing attempts and two wax jobs... no luck. If you can see past the reflection, or in front of it, it is pretty clear.

I don't know guys. I won't lose any sleep over this, it is a truck after all. I will keep the hood and roof waxed and keep my fingers crossed. At this point, I will just live with it and keep my Red Ryder in arms-reach.

It is pretty trivial considering what the truck will probably go through in the next couple/several hundred thousand miles.
