    I have a 2019 Tundra 2wd TSS …
I was looking into changing shocks to a recommended Bilstein 5100.
I was told the truck already has Bilstein on it stock???
Must be a cheaper Bilstein if that true.
I’m 65 and don’t need a lift or bigger wheels just a better shock that’s not to stiff…

I believe stock are Bilstein 4600's.

Those (blue and yellow) are on the TRD off-road package trucks. They’ll be a little stiffer than the standard OEM black shocks.

The 5100 is a better version of the Bilstein shock that your truck came stock with. Your OEM shock is a "version" of the 4600. That said, a Bilstein 4600 is generally a little better than you OEMs as well, but definitely not an upgrade in my opinion.

Feels like im in the minority but was never impressed with 5100’s. As a matter of fact I thought they rode like shit. That was on the lowest setting.

6112’s were a huge improvement in ride quality. Know they are more expensive but buy once, cry once.

The ride seriously is better not just a stiff race shock? Thanks!!

Naa…6112’s are a solid street set up IMO. I don’t do anything off-road with my truck other than a dirt road or something to get my rzr’s to a spot…im sure they are fine off-road too. Better than stock/5100’s anyway.

They are a good medium. Im sure you can dial in a Fox/King/ADS etc much better but 6112’s aren't stiff nor do they ride like a boat.

I’ve got 50k on a 6112/5160 set up. Lowest setting(stock replacement). I’ll do it again when they need replacing.

I’m also running 6112 / 5160 combo and agree 100%. Great go anywhere do anything shock that will outperform anything near its price.

Sounds like the direction I would like to go, 6112/5160 combo. Where did you all order your Bilsteins from

Check with @memario1214 , I believe he has them in stock.

I also had that combo on my other Tundra. Hard to beat for the money.

Last time I check most people said 5100 and 4600 are basically the same shocks only different is 5100 have groves for lift. If you ain’t looking for lift and want better ride, I’ll go 6112/5160 or try something else.

I didn’t get the TRD suspension off the lot, my stock shocks are the black one. So anything is gonna out performing it. When I order my shocks, the bilstein was back order and no one have a time for it, so I went with the fox 2.0 and never look back.
A few weeks ago I just installed the RAS spring and it took out all the floats over bumps feel. It does make the truck more firm but not jarring uncomfortable, I rather have a solid feel than the truck just floating non stop on interstate.
I was going for the bilstein 6112/5160 as everyone praised them for the price/performance.

    I’ve posted this around.

I ran 5100s front and rear for about 20,000 miles. Recently switched them out with 6112/5160. Both fronts sets were set to second position from bottom. 1.57” on 5100s and 1.3” on 6112s. However both lift the front the same amount.

My estimation is the 6112/5160 combo is 10% less stiff and 50% less harsh than the 5100s. Do with that what you will.

An order of 6112s come as an unassembled shock and spring. You get the whole enchilada (shock/spring) if you order 6112s.

Get the one that pre-assembled and ready to install if you gonna DIY.

By plan, yes. Bilstein sells them unassembled and then it is expected that you will disassemble your OEM equipment and move the top hat and isolator over. Some retailers (like us here at Hotshot Offroad) will offer assembly services where we get your desired ride height info and vehicle specs and send them out to you assembled with brand new top hats. That way you don't have to mess with the disassembly process on your own.

I called a place locally and he said he can get Rancho 5000 or Monroe. Rancho is a good choice isn't? Anybody try a set?

If you want a "better" shock then Monroe and Rancho are not it. They are perfectly acceptable replacements, but unless they're pushing something like the Rancho RS5000X it's not what one would consider an upgrade.
