Im in the middle of my 5100 install and have hit a road block.... The old (stock) springs won't seat correctly. The 5100 spring seats won't slide all the way into them and obviously I'm not installing them that way! I'll work on pictures, but I received Bilstein 24-261425 struts in the mail. Do I have some bad springs and now need to get new ones? HELP!

Finding that out now. They are cheap-o quick strut ones. I'm sure they came pre-assembled and now I need to track down some actual springs. The best part is I took a grinder to the old ones and now there's no putting them back together. Woops.

The dealership quoted me at $560 for both springs. Wowzer. Any aftermarket options I could go with that you're aware of that wouldn't push my front end too high?

I would look at eibach springs at wheeler offroad under 200 for pair and would give you 2" level

Wonder how compatible they are with icon. Meaning the icons lift your truck with the stock springs. Heights depended on where you set them at. So with a 2 inch lift and spring I would imagine you would want them on one of the lowest settings.

Wasn't there a guy on here a couple of days ago trying to unload some factory coilovers to free up garage space? Seemed like he was more worried about getting rid of them and didn't want much money.

I ran into this same problem. The springs from Monroe Quickstruts will not fit the 5100's, it would take a lot of grinding to get them to fit trust me I tried.

I had the same sticker shock from factory springs and ended up buying OME 885 springs and Taco upper mounts. Just to get the truck on back on the road if your old shocks are done for you can buy just normal Monroe shocks to get by.

With Bilistein you need to run their coils

Thanks for the quick responses today y'all! I had to get my truck back on the road and into the shop for a transfer case leak and I live in a place where getting parts is all shipping, so it just wasn't to be. Got some inexpensive strut coil preassemblies (I'm sorry truck), and when those wear out, I'll try this saga again. Really thought I'd done my homework, but of course the inexpensive aftermarket parts got me again. Thanks previous owner...
In other news, if anybody needs bilstein 5100 struts for a first gen, I'll knock a little off retail and send them your way!

T-rex- in your last post, do you mean "OME" instead of bilstein?
