Would probably get minimal use. Something from Amazon, Can Tire, Princess Auto. Canadian here. Princess is the same as Harbor.

I would suggest a Ramsey. Their REP series is old school, but I have had them and they always performed great and cost less than others. No idea on what they cost now but I always purchased Ramsey over Warn and other higher end models, never had any issue with them.

The badland series from harbor freight are very low cost but no idea on how good they are. But for $300, it may be a good unit for your occasional use

I have Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply on my trucks, both work fine.

Not sure what your plans are, but a 3 ton comealong and two blocks works wonders in my world.

Ya, for me, may never happen. Just the convenience of pushing a button. Already carrying a comealong and tow rope. A snatchblock setup is a good idea.

I have the 12k badlands winch (not Apex). Gets tested before every off-road run. Always works. About $300 after tax with Harbor Freight coupon.
