Damn my luck: I will probably NOT be able to attend this year as it falls in the same month, but after, my kid’s spring break. I did get to attend the last 2 years on the October schedule, so this tim I gotta mom. I hope to make it next year.

I plan on being there Wednesday thru Saturday, going to try and do broken arrow and go fast Friday as far as trails go. The weekend will be busy, so try and plan for early week activities

I'm planning on taking the whole week off for it. Thinking of taking a few days off the week before or after as well.

Bummer :( Can I borrow your truck then? :mudding:

We will also probably check out grand falls/chocolate falls, the spring melt should make it better than when we saw it in October F739CAF1-83F1-4AC3-A505-DE0FFFD703BB.jpg

That sounds nice. I'm not sure if I'd be able to get up to Moab, but I was actually thinking of heading towards Southern Utah at least.

I have no current plans to be there. Yet, by then, I plan to be close to as good as it's gonna get, and some real tests under the belt. So. could be.

I should add, that if I'm going to show my backside, it should be around friends.

    I think he means :monocle:

his truck will be as ready as it is likely ever to be, and he’ll have driven it a bit, so maybe he’ll be up to speed….

Only one of the trails is challenging. The rest are well within anyone’s ability if you’re driving a high clearance vehicle with 4x4. It’s very much geared toward newer off-road drivers. It’s worth the drive from LA.

How about a high clearance 2WD with a rear locker?

Yes, that will be fine. To assuage the grumpy locals— by making sure we don’t add unnecessary ruts to trails— T2S’s official guidance is 4x4 only during T2S week. That said, if you air down on dirt, have a locker you’ll engage when appropriate, and know how to drive your truck, I can’t imagine you’ll lose traction anywhere and need to spin.

I don’t recommend doing Smiley Rock without 4x4 during this event… if you have buddies fore and aft to winch you, or you wanna pile rocks as you go, anything is possible. But any stucks by anyone effectively shut down the trail in both directions.

Seems that if I have a respect for what I can do and what I can't do, and plan appropriately, I can come out and not be a dic. I don't have an ego about it, I can sideline all day long.

The trip to the falls @FrenchToasty mentioned will be 2WD friendly.

Just don't go too far into the cinders.

If you don’t mind my assessment based on attending a few times… I suggest you ride shotgun (and you can hop out and be a spotter, if you’re willing) on Smiley Rock, and maybe don’t go exploring too far off hard tracks behind Cinders after Go Fast Friday, but you should be able to get to the Cinders location, no problem. And every other trail I know about that’s been part of this even in years past.

Probably not. A whole lotta layers of bosses to get through. But it certainly added even more to my motivation to … overcome obstacles. :p
