What would be the best exhaust for my 2017 Tundra double cab 5.7L 4x4? Don’t want it to loud but want it to be louder than stock. Also I would really like duals coming straight out of the rear. But not opposed to other options within price range! What all do you guys have? And what prices? Cat back? Or what?

I did a fully custom magnaflow 40 series cat back for $400 dual straight out the rear. No drone. Pretty loud though.

Maybe a dumb question, but does anyone simply swap out louder sounding mufflers instead of replacing the entire system?

I have the bamufflers budget bolt on system. Un bolt the stock muffler bolt up the bamuffler. 30 minutes and your done. Uses stock tail pipe so no dual exhuast. Sounds awesome. Barely louder then stock when cruising, not really pushing the pedal. Once you give her some gas she comes alive. No drone with the resonator installed. Call Keith at dirty deeds. Custom made exhuast designed for tundras.

It’s not a dumb question, plenty of guys just cut out the old muffler and have a different muffler welded up. Much cheaper but kind of hit and miss unless you talk to someone with that specific muffler, to know hoe it’s going to sound. If it drones maybe you could buy the resonator off of Keith to make your own custom system. I just went ahead and spent the coin on the BAMmuffler 6 inch. I couldn’t be happier.

I did Magnaflow cat back with duals that exit behind the rear tires. No drone, and relatively quiet until you get on it.

Was thinking of doing the same. But just Incase it’s to loud I would like to be able to bolt back on my stock system.

Well, I heard BAMufflers is great. However I did not use them, I had a friend cut out the muffler and install dual straight pipes (2.5 inch). It is not quiet and there is lots of drone. I have had it like this for maybe a year now and have grown tired of everyone jerking their head to see "WTH is going on" when my truck is started. I think I am going to get a Flowmaster 40 dual in/dual out welded in.

HID retrofit headlights from Lightwerkz, Morimoto LED fog lamps from Lightwerkz. JL audio upgrade from Tech12Volts, Powdercoated factory black wheels local, ESP rear storage trays under seat, bed cover by BakFlip, bed liner, console safe, LED light bar by Back Country. Weathertech floor liners and ventshades. TRD rear sway bar. TRD Pro exhaust, TRD Skid plate, Fortin EvoOne Remote start from Anderson Electronics.
I bought into the TRD performance exhaust. I watched some videos and reviews and decided to order it. Bolts right up to factory and includes all the hardware needed. Can install in an hour or two max, faster if you have a lift.

I am an old man now, and don't want to light up the neighborhood as i drive through, I just wanted something a little beefier in the sound department while keeping things as stock as possible.

These don't come out the back they exit out of each side, but the sound increase was noticeable immediately. I get comments alot about it sounding pretty good without being too loud.

A little pricey in my opinion, especially when compared to other aftermarket options, but it works. I'm happy I guess that's all that matters.

My CM '07 came from the factory with Borla that exited out the back and I loved the sound when you got on it but not much noise down the hwy. If I ever decide to put duels on I will at least look at Borla again

Yeah my son has a Scion tC and his buddy spend $650 on TRD exhaust and my sons cheap Catback sounded better and was $300 dollars cheaper. Which in no way is close to a tundra but still I won’t buy TRD for the price of them unfortunately.

I talked to my local muffler shop they said that with what I’m looking for a Flow Master 44 series would be perfect. Nice growl without drone and duals straight out the back. My options are open though! I appreciate the input everyone is giving for sure!!

I bought the afe cat back and its exactly that. Deep and mellow. No drone no rasp. Just smooth. It is single exit but totally worth the money. Even got free shipping.

I have the dirtydeeds TRD replacementsystem with dumps before the rear axle. I went with the 20x5 mufflers and it is veey quiet with a deeper tone and no drone. I did the 20x5 only because I was going to be getting a travel trailer and did not want an overly loud and droning exhaust while towing. If I did not have the travel trailer i would have gone with the 16x5 or 12x5.
Give Keith a call and he can build you what ever you want for an exhaust.

The Flowmaster 40 is $100 on Amazon. I think this will be the best option for me. However I will start towing more often, so I might go with a Flowmaster 50, to quiet down the long tows.
    The Flowmaster 44 is $102
