Not to start a damn war on here, but I was not impressed with my Kimber Pro TLE/RL. My brothers and fathers Kimber Custom II run like a clock. Mine wouldn’t feed. After several attempts at repair, I sold it. When it did run, it was pure bliss. However, it rarely ran one magazine clean.

One of my favorite and best running weapons in the 1911 flavor was a Magnum Research 1911C. The trigger was better on that 700.00 pistol than my 1400.00 Kimber. Look into it. They have an aluminum framed 3” as well, for carry. 5695B251-6D15-40DC-A47A-781005870511.jpg

This was before my horrific boating accident on the Nile going North.

Oh. I can’t answer the better question. My guess is it is going to be die hard fans one way or the other with their individual reasons. I don’t have any Colts. But recently sent a custom 2 back to Kimber for a feeding issue. Long story short they fixed it and called me before return shipping. Turns out it was 11 years out of warranty but the built a new slide with the new style extractor. That’s great customer service and one of the reasons my wife has a Kimber as well.

Long Time Pistol Shooter. IMO. 4 out of Every 10 Kimber 1191's you Will have Trouble With!!
You would think you would get a lot better Quality for that Cost!! Hard to go wrong with a
    Colt.

In my opinion and I own 10 45’s ...the first I’d go for the the nighthawk custom followed by the sig sauer 45 , then my Glock....I can’t say colt or Kimberwhich I own make the top 3

I vote Colt. While I have a Kimber and it’s been flawless, Kimber has a so-so reputation and Colt seem to be top notch 1911s.

Para Ordnance has some great offerings in a compact 1911.

I think Kimber has let their quality slip as of late... I have a Kimber Micro 9 and a Colt 1991, they aren't really in the same league as far as purpose but I far prefer the Colt.

I also have a Para Expert that shoots just as good as the Colt and cost half the price. I want a Para Black Ops Recon in 9mm pretty bad but they are truly a unicorn.

Wilson is way too much.. I am only at like a $1400 max budget. I would like to stay under $1400.

I would go with the Colt. I have a Kimber Micro 9 in stainless. It is a pretty gun but heavy for it's size. It shoots fine but I prefer my Glock 43 for every day carry.

I know its very similar to 1911. Both designed around same time by same guy. Browning Hi-Power 9mm. also my first pistol buy over 25 years ago. I can say never had feed issue or misfire.

I had a Kimber CDP Pro and a Raptor Pro. The trigger was really nice and extremely accurate. The workmanship was top notch. I had to sell them and a Les Baer Premier II due to my divorce. :( If I were to buy a new 1911, Kimber would be my first choice. If you want to go for a higher end you should check out Les Baer and Wilson Combat.

Have been pretty impressed with the 3” Kimber and the Para Ordnance Black Ops pistols that my dad has, both in 45. My 4.25” Ruger shoots very nice for a $700 1911 as well.

I’m looking for an even rarer unicorn, a Para Ordnance Black Ops Combat or a Remington R1 Tactical Double Stack. Both have threaded barrels and rails, in addition to both of them being double stacks. Have gotten to the point where I’m so in love with the 1911 design, but I want more than 8 rounds.

    Still rocking the stock height.
I have heard to many stories of Kimber's having to go back in for work.
I have a Citadel Officer model in 45 that I love. Great shooting little gun. I have been thinking about getting another compact 1911 for carry and moving the Citadel to a bedside gun. Would love a Wilson Combat, but don't have that kind of money. May look at a Para or a Remington.

Yeah, may have to have my FFL order one for me someday. I’ve never seen either in a gun store. If they weren’t well outside of my price range, I’d definitely consider an STI.

Kimber tactical Ultra II. I have had it for 8 years now without issue. It is 1 of 3 different carry guns i use now. It is an aluminum frame, so it is much lighter weight than other compact 1911s.
