I think I'm at a point where I'm going to stick with my TRD Pro BBS wheels and looking at some 295s to replace her shoes. I have a short commute time now but will be extending that significantly in the coming months. What are the best for highway driving and noise?

EDIT: Looking for an A/T or M/T

For highway driving, super quiet, good tread warranty I would recommend Michelin Defenders. They are m+s rated as well and much better feeling that the michelin ATs the factory includes on some of the Tundras. Defenders actually do ok offroad too, in everything except deep mud.

Thanks! Guess I should have quantified my question, as I'm looking for more of an A/T tire as opposed to a roadie.

Lots of good choices. I purchased new tires earlier this year- needed something with excellent road manners, good wet and snow traction, low noise, at least 50k tread warranty, ability to handle off road jaunts.

I looked at all the major brands- Toyo, nitto, bfg, general and the usual suspects. Ended up going with Cooper XLTs- checked all my boxes, price and weight were good and they have 60k tread warranty. In my size, 275/70-18, they are also 3 peak rated.

MTs are going to be LOUD. ATs will be louder than road tires, but many are fairly quiet until you put some miles on them. I wanted a 295/70 too, until I saw that I can fit a 285/75 more easily with fewer rubbing issues. I have the same suspension as you, by the way. I went with 285/75 Duratracs. They ride great and are quiet on the highway, but I expect them to be louder when they have 20k on them.

Quietest AT I ever ran was the Nitto Terra Grappler G2. I put those in E load on my 4Runner. Zero issues and fairly quiet till the end. I drove them for 50k miles and the tread still looked good when I traded the 4Runner in on my Tundra.

I also forgot to mention i have stock wheels and I also have spacers to give them a little more aggressive look. The ride is super smooth and pretty quiet.

I'm seriously considering RGs. I like the TGs but wanted something a little beefier looking. I'm running 1.25" spacers, which from what I hear, eliminate a lot of the rubbing issues.

I have the Cooper 295/70-R18 AT3 XLTs and like them a lot so far. Nice ride and aggressive look. Only 59 Lbs. so not as heavy as some others. I also have the TRD Pro suspension and 1.25" wheel spacers. The spacers actually make rubbing worse.;)

I had to take off both flaps and do a little heat gun and trimming to the liner.
But so far I like the ride a lot! I will pull up a photo and post it in a few minutes. Not the best picture of them but you will get the idea.

I Believe that Nitto is the mother company to toyo if I remember correctly. I could be wrong.. would not be the first time.

I'm not married to the spacers. Honestly would rather take them off if the 295s give me the stance I'm looking for. How's the road noise on the Coopers?

I'd look at the Toyo AT3, Toyo CT (same as my Nitto Exo Grapplers with different tread), or Falken Wildpeak (I need snowflake rated for winter). I love my Nitto Exo Grapplers but they don't come in 295/70R18. My Dad runs Cooper AT3 on both of his 4Runners and he likes them as well. The newest AT3's he bought were snowflake rated, but his first set don't have the 3 peak mountain snowflake symbol

Probably going either of these tires for our Land Cruiser (wife's ride) when it needs tires as it'll spend majority of it's life on pavement with gravel and some pasture driving.

Here's my truck with the Cooper 295/70 R18 Discoverers. I'm debating changing the wheels over to the TRD Pro BBS:

That looks awesome! I think the TRD wheels scream for something like that. Might have sold me. Especially when they're $40 less a tire than RGs

RG’s are great tires.. and surprisingly very quiet for an aggressive tire.

I think the BBS need something more solid for sure. The Michelins were great on the Maxima but not so much on a 4x4

DT has them for $330 a tire around here, which is the higher end of the spectrum for the 295's. Coopers, by comparison, are more midrange. Although I have to say aesthetics are probably my driving force more than price

I think if you do a search on this site like I have, you'll find a lot of good reviews on the Cooper AT3 XLTs (and a few bad sprinkled in, of course). There are certainly a lot of good brand options and for me, it really comes down to how I use my truck. I'm on the road mostly so I need tires with a good ride, road manners, and dependability. The other stuff is a bonus for off-road, hunting, etc. Another future possibility for me is the Toyo Open Country A/T III, as I've heard good things about this tire too and the weight is reasonable.

I think it's that and from what a few shops have told me. The supply on tires is kinda crazy low on certain sizes.
