Today I removed my bumper, and removed the end caps. I am taking the chrome ends to be powdercoated white tomorrow. What if anything do I need to do before I drop them off. I scrubbed them good and got them shiny, scrubbed the inside out as well. So all of the heavy junk is off. What if anything needs to be done before I drop them off?

You should be good. Post pics when you get it back together. You have a bulb out on your passenger side.

They have to sandblast them anyways.

I had mine done flat black a few years ago. I didn’t do anything. They blast and wash them.

For sure I will. Yeah I have the switchback drl’s and I probably pulled something loose when I was taking the bumper off.

I’ve heard the power coated can sand blast them which puts a rough surface and they coat over that.

Did you have just the endcaps powdercoated, or did you have the chrome grille and bulge done also? How much did it run you?

How close is the white powder coat finish to the Toyota super white? I was told it is really difficult to get the colors to match

I need to do this. I have been putting it off.

Was it a pain to get them off?

short answer yes it was. But I removed the whole bumper not just the caps. I read enough to know that if I wanted to avoid a headache I needed to remove the whole thing. About an 1.5 hour job give or take.

Does it match perfect? No. But it matches good enough for me.117CDC83-BFC3-4117-AE50-4CD382123732.jpg

No I ordered the bulge and grill separately. Just had the ends powdercoated and it was like 85 out the door for the powdercoat

The grille and bulge are plastic, so powder coating isn't really an option. Some body shops can paint them, but my local shop said they won't even try to paint anything chrome because it's too hard to get it to stick, last, and look good.

My shop will be doing my stock grille and bulge when I am ready. They actually do do a type of light sandblasting on the plastic chrome stuff and then treat it with some sort of special primer before traditional color and clear. Looks pretty good on another project they were doing.

Yeah, that's how I've heard of them being painted. My local place just doesn't do it. No matter to me, I got the parts from Roman, and I am ok with it because my Tundra is my only vehicle. Wouldn't want to be without a grille for days on my dirt/gravel road. Bad for the radiator.

    So...
Correct me if I am mistaken, so we should be seeing more blue on the nose of that awesome rig of yours? The “parts from Roman” are the front end bumper caps to replace the chrome ones?

No no, lol. I was referencing my grille. I'll likely go with an after market bumper in a year or so. My apologies for misleading you.

I wondered because your latest pics show color matched grille. What did you do with the stock chrome one then? I am going to turn it into a “project” like mentioned above. So I will not be without “a radiator”. ;)

I actually let my local body shop have it. They've been really good to me over the last decade and a half.
