Nice malty taste and can really taste the bourbon. Almost too much for me.

Oh it did (still is) and I spent most of the afternoon tasting beers at "Memphis Made brewery"

    Tried:

dubbelthink - 8.1% - a dubbelbock that really tasted damn good

Fireside amber - 5% - damn good amber. Very balanced. Malty and roasty taste...definitely try it again

Greenswarden Hefeweizen - 8% - very good with a slight citrus tang. Great for daytime drinking

    And finally:

Azacca SMASH - 6% - a weird blend of papaya, grapefruit, pineapple and pine...VERY hoppy. Not too bad for a one off deal.

Best part? This brewery is within walking distance from my house.....ain't gotta worry about drinking and driving.....WIN!

All in all.....been a good day LOL I'm feeling it, but not enough to accept a bud light offer from a buddy (seriously thinking of deleting him from FB since the "bud light offer") LOL

Back from Portland Maine. Went to several breweries but mostly bars, pubs, & seafood haunts. 6 different DIPA's from the local provisions all in 16 oz cans. Left them in my hotel fridge. IMG_5199.jpg
The trip was great though. Was gonna send some @Noodle 's way.

Thanks for @Sean266 for getting me some outstanding beer.

Yeti from Great Divide Brewing Company, Colorado 9.5%
A very dark rich malt...great dark rich frothy head and the foam lasted forever. Chocolate/coffee notes and is very smooth. Didn't need a mustache to catch it!
    Would get again.
    IMG_0922.jpg

    Next:
    Shake chocolate Porter 5.9%
    Boulder Colorado
Very good chocolate and Coffee notes. Smooth and well balanced. Tastes like chocolate shake but the coffee balances the chocolate! Like it a lot! Good after dinner beer. Would get again.
    IMG_0921.jpg

Lastly for the evening as it was getting late:
Milk stout Nitro. Left hand brewing Company Colorado 6%

Great smell of Vanilla and coffee. Tastes great. Would get again!

    IMG_0920.jpg

I would have all three in my refrigerator if they were local to me. None disappoints!

I had to stop after drinking these three. Definitely feeling them. A few more to review and I want to be fair to the others.

    Thanks Sean!

You selected some outstanding beer to send, Sean!

It amazes me how brewers can make beer taste so unique. Coming from a time and a background where beer choices were limited I'm happy that so many great beers are being crafted today!
Colorado does make great tasting beer!

I have no doubt Sean sent some solid stuff but check out the menus I posted in post 1409 and 1410. Yeah I'm biased as hell but I'll put the craft beer scene in Richmond up against anything.

Nice sour with lychees, blood orange and calamondin. With the exception of blood orange I don't know WTF the other two are. But it's sour and tasty as hell.

I have to agree based on the beers I have tried from our state. I am going to have to come up to Richmond sometime and buy some craft beers you've recommended. Or I can keep an eye out and buy them locally like with the Imperial Satan Ale and Soft Serve Porter that I lucked out finding at our local Costco's.

I seek out unique things and that applies to beer. The Pretzel beer is a good example. The Inferno colored truck is another.

I'm careful to not drink and drive so it's been helpful to go with recommendations from you and others and try them at the comfort of my home. The price paid to ship and receive is reasonable when I think through a long drive or worse a DUI.

I googled craft beers made in Va. and am in awe over the many we now make. Multiply that by other states doing the same and it's impressive. One beer I have not had the pleasure of trying is a pumpkin flavored one. I am looking forward to sourcing those when fall arrives.

Here are some craft Beer in our state and just think they are constantly bringing out new beers:

Thanks for the many postings you, @Sean266 and others keep contributing to! It has been one of my favorite threads to stay current with. This  And

With the exception of Hardywood the best breweries in Richmond don't distribute you have to go to the brewery to get their stuff. The Answer, Triple Crossing, the Veil, Isley and Final Gravity are only available for pick up at the brewery and all of their stuff is good. With my new business endeavors I'm going to be working in Williamsburg quite a bit. I'd be glad to meet up for lunch and a beer and bring you some stuff.
