Long story short, we a quart of apple cider got wedged between the bottom of my rear seat (DC) and the ledge of the floor and wasn't discovered until a week later when it had expanded and lost about half of it's contents. Most of the spill got the carpet and not the all weather mats because of the fact that it was sitting up on that little ledge under the seat.

I've been spot cleaning with our bissell for about 5 days now (I think I've cleaned it about 5 times). The water is progressively less dirty, and last night it wasn't really dirty at all. If I let my windows down overnight in the garage, it's not as bad the next day, but after getting back in after work, it smells still (not as strong as when it first spilled). I've noticed after about the fourth cleaning that it smells strong when opening the doors, but once inside it's not as noticeable. When I put my nose to it (it's only on the passenger side back carpet), it's very faint, so I'm not sure why I'm still getting hit in the face with a strong odor when opening the doors.

Anyways, I'm wondering if Ozone or a detailer is next.

I've also tried carpet cleaners that are safe for auto, spray, pat, vacuum, as well deodorizers sprays, etc. They only last for a little bit.

Suggestions for a cleaning solution here?

    Thanks!

I thought vinegar usually can get rid of smells....not sure about the apple cider....more of the white vinegar...so I would think it would go away on its own

This stuff works really well for things like this. It’s available at Walmart or auto parts stores. It’s pretty harsh, so do it when you have time to air the vehicle out before you drive it.

My dog puked in the back of my truck a couple years ago and it was a nightmare. I tried everything myself for a couple weeks and then finally took it to a car wash/detailer with a pet odor ozone treatment. A couple hours later, it was fine.

There's nothing like smelling puke in your truck every time you get in, faint or not, so I feel you. I also learned not to get perforations on Katzkin leather.

Thanks everyone. I actually took it to a local detailer to see what they thought and they checked for moisture under the pad (there wasn't any), so they were confident they could get it out with a pre/post treatment enzyme. They cut me a deal on having the whole truck detailed on the inside while I had it there (it needed it with two kids riding back there all of the time). The truck literally smells like a brand new truck. I'm going to give it a few weeks to see if it's actually gone.

It should be gone. Congrats on getting your truck back.
