    Hello fellow Tundranites!

Today my mother in law took her Camry in for tire rotation and they told her the battery was leaking water from the bottom, never heard of this happening and they checked the battery and it was fine. The connectors though had corrosion on them and this is the 2nd time we’ve had to clean them in a years span. Any ideas????

That battery may be fine now but..... if it is leaking it won't be good for long. At that point...replace time.

Has she driven in the rain recently or gone thru a carwash? My battery tray used to collect water every time I washed my truck until I removed the tray and drilled a few drain holes in it. Depending on the age of the car the battery may be under warranty. If she didn't take it to a Toyota dealer it might be worth it to take it to a dealer and have them pull and inspect the battery. If the car is older or on its second or third battery I would pull it myself and give it a good once over. Clean the terminals and battery posts, use a light sandpaper or emory cloth on the posts and after reattaching the cables give each post a liberal shot of CRC battery corrosion preventative spray.

Thanks for the advice, we just replaced it last year. Car hasn’t been washed and we finally got some clear skies, maybe it was left over water?? It had been raining off and on for the past month. Also might be a possibility that she was a women service people like to hustle them. BTW it was at firestone that they told her this.

Very possible that there's just some residual water in the tray. I would pull the battery and look it over on the bottom and sides really well. A crack in the case should be pretty easy to see and that's the only way it would be leaking. If it's a serviceable battery you can pop the caps and see if it's low on water, just be very careful when taking the caps off.
