The BASTRDS are going on an easy run to break in @GodlessPro's new truck. If you want to get on some dirt and run an easy trail, this is probably the one you want to go on. First timers are welcome. We will meet this Saturday at around 12pm at the West Coast Tundracrew Meet in Auburn.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/knee-deep-brewing-auburn-meet-up.29913/#post-738659

We will have lunch and mingle a bit and try to get out of there by 1pm. From there we will drive to Sierra City (2 hours) and run the Sierra Buttes Trail.

    467BDB91-5D1A-4676-99A1-30060683C7A8.jpg

This is a Green Trail (easy) and we will drive up to the peak and then hike 3/4 mile to the Lookout Tower which supposedly has one of the best views in Tahoe. Then we will finish off the trail and end up at our camp in Salmon Creek Campgrounds, hopefully by around 7pm. You can either camp there with us or go home from there. We will have dinner there and camp the night.

Next morning we will have breakfast at camp, pack up, and then run the Deer Lake Trail. This one is a Blue Trail (moderate) so you'll need to be setup to run it. (4wd, lift, +33" tires, sliders and skids may come in handy, etc.)

    8936F3C7-87E5-48D7-A5B9-AC4BAAFD5AB7.jpg

If anyone wants to join us on Sunday only to run Deer Lake, you can meet us at Salmon Creek Campgrounds at 8:30 am. @dcsleeper408 will be doing that.

    https://goo.gl/maps/11bTv76q3HK2

We will arrange meals once we get a solid head count. This will be family friendly so kids and wives/gf's/bf's/friends are all welcome. But the climb up the stairs at the lookout tower looks a little steep and frightening to be honest, so really small kids or anyone afraid of heights may not be able to go up.

Like I said, the Saturday run should be nice and easy and a great opportunity for anyone who wants to try wheeling or for anyone who wants to run on some dirt without damaging their trucks.

Helping set up is good enough! I'm sure they'd understand if you leave a little early to go wheeling.

Sunday is a possibility, will have to check and make sure the wife has not ”volun-told” me into something. That’s our only day off together the last two weeks

I am hoping to make it at least one day. (Need to confirm with my wife when she gets home that she did not schedule me for any projects around the house.)

Didn’t you just get sliders?? Well, if you only make one day, I’d suggest Sunday. The wheeling will be much more fun and you may actually get to put the sliders to use. But try to make both days if you can.

Yes - just installed my sliders on Saturday. Sunday sounds good but it's been a long time since I have driven off road. The description of Sunday's trail did not sound too difficult. Is this OK for novices?

I'm on Amazon ordering a few things. Is this list still accurate?

This will be my first time off road in my new truck so we'll probably be taking it easy.
We haven't run Deer Lake before but it sounds fairly tame.

Yeah, like Matt said we haven’t run these trails before so we don’t know what to expect but most blue trails we rarely even touch our sliders. Pinstriping doesn’t look like it’ll be bad neither. Couple spots might get a little challenging but you’ll be ok. And the green trail will be nothing but a leisurely drive... only high up with maybe some cliffs. I’m mostly worried about the 3/4 mile hike to the lookout tower. That’s a really long walk for me.

Yes, that list is accurate but we have all the gear you need so if you’re missing anything, don’t worry about it. Just make sure you bring a spare tire, full size if possible.

We’re going to look after you so don’t worry and you’ll have fricken a blast.

Great! Sunday sounds like a blast - just working on being able to run both days. I ordered a couple things from Amazon but not a radio - was not sure if this was a requirement. For the spare I just have the stock spare - this is full size-ish. ;) (I want to go up to 295/70’s so I have not wanted to spend $ on another 33”.)

Hell yeah! That spare tire will be fine. And I have an extra radio and even a spare tent if you need one.

Stock Pro? I don't think you'll have any trouble with the Sierra Buttes trail on Saturday. I wouldn't do the Sunday trail in a stock truck.

Actually, she's got a lot on her plate and sometimes it's just not a good idea to interject another subject. I did find the right time however and looks like she's coming along. Only took me about 16 years to get this all figured out.:hattip:

I’ll be at Knee Deep, but my weekend is looking busy. Plus I have been too cheap to get a full size spare.

We're not doing anything difficult so you could probably get by without the full size spare. Let us know if you change your mind.
