Hey fellas, so does anyone here have experience with switching from their oem led fog lights to the Baja Squardron or the Rigid fog lights vs the OEM LED fog lights?

A little of this and a little of that.
I had VLED's LED fogs and switched to the Squadron fogs. Huge difference.

Rigid DOT fogs 100% the beam spread is and cut lines is amazing. I have led headlights and I regularly forget to turn them on cuz the rigids are so bright

I have rigid dually SAE and they are the best lighting upgrade I’ve done so far. I’d rate them higher than the 18+ OEM LED headlights. They are very wide and put out amazing light on the road

I went with the full diffused rigid midnight series...as I only need them off road on trails

Replaced my OEM foglights with Squadron Sport. They compliment the stock LED's by adding width and spectrum. They are too bright for oncoming traffic.

I have the BajaDesign squadron sport and I’m 99% positive that oncoming drivers hate my guts when I have them on.
On a positive note the spread of the fogs is fantastic there isn’t one coyote or deer on the side of the road that can hide from me. They’re so nice I haven’t used high beams since I installed them.
However!!! It snowed here once (heavily) last year and I had to turn them off because I couldn’t see shit. I’d imagine it would be the same in fog.

That problem is fixed by getting the amber lens(still in wide cornering). Yet another awesome benefit of BD lights. You do loose a bit of light output with the lenses but 75% of usable light is way better then 0% of white light.
Yes I had the newest model of sports with amber lenses and they are amazing.

I traded that truck in about a month ago.

However, I still have a set of brand new BD sports with Rago brackets for the wife’s 4Runner. To bad she still doesn’t have the 4Runner though .. maybe in the next month or so they will have a home. I don’t know if I’ll swap out my led fogs on this truck since I leased it.

The future 4Runner will get BD pros in amber though for fogs.

Pretty sweet. I'm wondering -- and I'm assuming OP is too -- how often these would get used if I didn't have the DOT approved ones.

That’s going to be a personal call I think. I at first didn’t use them on the street unless no oncoming traffic. After a few months I would just leave them on till I got flashed..which might have only happened once. BD says not to use sports or pros on the street(probably due to liability). Their SAE are fairly new. There where a few members switching from the Rigids(SAE)to BD(SAE) and begging for status updates back around last thanksgiving thru Christmas time frame on the BD general discussion thread.

If you live in an area with a lot of rain, fog, dust or snow then amber will be a good choice.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. I want to go with BD is because I moved to Michigan from Texas last year and I really need some amber lights up here with the six thousand feet of snow we get on the ground every winter, along with deer hiding in every nook and cranny of the woods out here. In the summer I can just switch the lens back to clear. Thanks for the install link. I'll use it next week!

@MotoTundra, now the question is. Have you played around with any of the driving/wide lens combos? I just ordered the lights but I'm thinking of ordering every lens they make. :)

Glad it could be of help. At the time I bought them BD didn't have the SAE approved fogs, so I went with the amber wide cornering and clear wide cornering. My thought was to pick a lens that isn't concentrated as high as the others, however I don't want to blind anyone so I use them like high beams. I can try some other lenses, but the wide cornering has grown on me.

I love that with BD you can swap em' out. You can't do that with the other brands.

Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I ordered the amber and the clear lens in the sport. I live up in Grand Rapids, MI now so I think I can get away with running the sports at night considering it isn't as concentrated around here. I'm pumped to get these babies installed. They should get here on the 12th. :)

does rigid offer an SAE-compliant amber or is BD the only one with one?

live in the sierras so having amber for snowstorms would be huge. I guess I could get the non-SAEs, but part of me wonders if that might overkill/blind other drivers
