Hey y’all I have read other forums and I’m sure this is mentioned in here somewhere as well but I ha e the smaller 26gal tank but I am alway filling up at a quarter and it takes about 18gal. I’m really contemplating where to get the 38gal tank and swap it in or just getting a gravity fed aux tank in the bed (probably a 15 or so gal one) and just “fixing” it that way what’s y’alls thoughts.....

I have been looking at that but I’m also concerned about bed space as my truck is only the 5.5ft bed and I do use it a lot especially when we go camping and hunting

agree, go with transfer flow. I did this on my 2013 Rock warrior (why it had the tiny tank i have no idea) but it was great especially when i had to pull my 69 mustang in the 30 ft toy hauler for shows. It made it so i didn't have to stop every rest stop. Traded in the '13 for '17 and luckily it came with the 38 gal, but still been debating whether to upgrade to the transfer flow not just for little bit more gas, but get rid of the plastic for a metal tank for when we are out on the trails.

Its fairly simple and straight forward to install. Best bet is have a buddy help as its heavy or get a floor jack to help balance and hold it while you do the bolts. Also, if you call transfer flow direct they offer a 10% military discount which basically eliminates the freight shipping costs.

I didn't think transfer flow made the 46gal for tundras anymore. someone found a different company on here a while back (I can't remember the name of it).

I will have to do some catch up then. I have been more focused on getting my bumpers upgraded last few weeks.

I was having the same issue with the small 26 tank. I now have all the 38 gal stuff to do that switch. I contemplated TF and LR. But, a few things I don't like about them is one, they are very heavy even when empty. This creates more lean and also I have read issues with the straps failing. I don't think the oem straps were really design to hold all that steel and gas. It has worked for some, and might be fine on the road but I take my truck on trails and a failure like that would suck. I ordered the 3rd crossmember and strap for the new 38. As for toughness I will be adding an RCI skid.I also have read about condensation issues with the metal tank. Don't know how true or not it is. Ultimately the 38 will cover what I need.

Did you go to the dealer for all the bits to do the 38 gal swap? For locate it from a junk yard?

I ordered them from Pinehurst Toyota and had them shipped. They were much cheaper than my local dealer would do. Even with the freight shipping. Go figure. Finding one in a Junkyard may be tough. I'm hoping to have mine installed next week sometime.

I never heard of any of those issues. My ‘13 rock warrior got beat up plenty in the trails and the TF did great. Idk if they changed anything since 2013, but the TF tanks had beefed metal tank straps that you are suppose to use to replace the stock ones so whether people followed that or not maybe.

If I remember correctly, it wasn't the strap itself it was the mounting point that failed. I'm sure there are few failures for the many they sold.

What did you have to order? What could you reuse from the smaller tank? And if you don’t mind me asking what did it all run you?

Im trying to configure a low maintenance aux tank. Something low profile with large surface area. I havent seen many/ any on a tundra yet. I am hoping to hear back form a couple fab shops for a aluminum 20ish gallon tank that takes a little less than 6" depth from the front of the bed. then having a 12v transfer pump(because I'm lazy)
