Looking to replace all door speakers. First question to ask is how do I determine what audio system I have. Most likely a JBL system in my 2006 DC but unsure. I know it’s a silly question, but I’ve read that I might need to replace the amp . Any suggestions...thanks.

If you have JBL it will say so on your radio. You do not have to replace the amp (if you have one), though you can. As in all things audio, go chat with a Crutchfield rep...they will sort you out. You will pay a little more...but their experience and guidance is worth it IMHO.

I'll stand corrected if not applicable to all JBL systems, but on my Limited, a JBL decal is also on the front of my speaker covers. So I suppose that's 2 telltale signs !

More than one JBL audio options were available in the Tundra. I my research and getting rid of the entire JBL system the JBL front door speakers and amp are different dependent upon which JBL system you have.

My 2006 Tundra with JBL 6 channel 8 speaker system. The front door speaker looks like this with a separate woofer and mid speaker. The tweeter is not shown in the pic.

If you go to Crutchfield's installation photos for the Tundra JBL system the picture shows only a woofer in the lower front door.

Thanks everyone for your input. As it turns out I do not have a JBL system. I was referred by many to contact Crutchfield and that is what I did. I took their suggestion to replace my old blown speakers with JBL Club 6500 series speakers. They believe that installation should be a breeze...even for me. Should get them installed by Super Bowl Sunday.
After replacement of speakers will come a new HU. Have no idea what that might be. Any recommendations would be helpful. Stay tuned for further follow-up.

Love the new speakers and tweeters. Installation went ok but tweeter install required a bit more fabrication than I expected. Overall very pleased with the sound and Crutchfield folks.

Thats the replacement I just did, but instead of the clubs I kept the factory amp at 2 ohm. I got a pair of Powerbass component speakers to replace the blown fronts. Luckily they were available in the outlet so i got them for $60! First door took 1 hour, 2nd door took 20 mins. Pretty easy, take your time pulling the door, snaps are a bitch to replace!
