I replaced everything except head unit and dash speakers some of you can see on my build https://www.tundras.com/threads/new-build-interior.65908/
    Maestro harness
    DSR1
    Amp
4 door speakers and sub box

About one in every 5 times I get in my truck or I can be just rolling down the road and I loose everything audio “from” the head unit (2020 JBL). You can see the music playing on head unit and you can change sources from xm to FM to Apple Car and get nothing , the phone audio won’t work either.

I have to stop the truck turn it off and restart it and everything works properly. I understand Toyota has a software update coming out to fix it. But I don’t recall it ever happening prior to my install.

Just a wild guess here but I wouldnt be surprised if the DSR1 is causing some issues. Make sure it is properly programmed

I have the same issues. I've done the same changes except for the speakers. I will replace them in two weeks.

The fact using the window can trigger it makes me think it might be a grounding issue. Make sure you have a solid metal-metal connection using a short wire of appropriate gauge.

‘I appreciate the tip but I never mentioned rolling down a window, I said I could be rolling down the road and it goes out.

‘Thanks for reading my post and trying to help

I have a similar issue. It’s happened two time driving down the road, the radio screen goes black then comes back on as though I just started the truck. Then music plays again. I am thinking a ground or power issue because of how quick it goes on and off. all factory equipment

My screen is always up, Navigation working. You can see what song is playing just no music/sound coming out.
I stop the vehicle and restart and it will play again.....

‘I wonder if I have the amp trigger setting wrong. I just looked and can’t find the email from @JAMES with install instructions to check which way it is supposed to be set up.

Does anyone have a clue what could be happening on my 08? I’m playing music right now and my front speakers keep turning off and on randomly. I have the premium audio with a JVC head unit. With that said, it is not only the door speakers, but also the tweeters and dash speakers. I have read somewhere that some jbl speakers do not charge sometimesn Any help?

Was also going to add that into some further investigation that my back speakers and sub are working at all times. My fronts however will be normal for maybe a second every ten seconds, then they will get really quiet when working, then after a little bit more time they go out completely and then turn back on for a sec so on and so forth. Test was done with jet to accessory as well as with motor running.

Okay I think I got it figured out, looked into the settings of my head unit and found a delay/level option on it. It of course was on delay. Maybe we got it!

2020 Crewmax and my stereo does crazy shit too. It will stop playing audio when hooked to i-phone through cable. Audio would stop but would still see the seconds display move on the song. I would often just turn off the radio like I am rebooting a computer. Sometimes I have to do twice.
Also I wondered if it has to deal with losing sync connection?

Does the entire sound system shut off? mine does that but I think that it is because the cord sucks. It is on carplay by the way.

I get this occasionally in my 2021. It’s happened since I got it a year ago, even when everything was still factory. Just figure it’s a bug in the factory head unit. It’s easily rectified by rebooting the stereo, but it’s an annoyance for sure.

In my truck sometimes I’ll get in and the sub doesn’t seem to be getting full power. Bass is terrible, but I can feel the sub with my hand and tell it still has some power, just not much. This occurs randomly, sometimes for a week or more at a time I won’t have full bass, but it always comes back at some point. Wish I knew what was up

My sub seems to do this sometimes too. I have an aftermarket head unit, so I can change where bass and treble go. Still have about the same amount of bass in the sub as the door speakers. What helped me was fading the music to the back some. It might sound quieter and such, but you just need to turn up the volume, then it sounds pretty good.

Cool, thanks for the tips. I’ve found some workarounds to get the best I can from it as is. I just wish I could get it back to powering the sub properly. It’s such a garbage system that any added problems make me wanna set it on fire and just rap to myself in the cab

Anyone figure out what is causing this? I have a 2008 Crewmax Limited with the JBL amp and speakers, but an aftermarket Kenwood installed. About a month ago, it started completely randomly and intermittently not working when I crank the truck up (no sound), and then randomly and sporadically brings the audio back. I get a signal on the EQ of the Kenwood (i.e. it is getting a signal), but nothing out of the speakers and then it randomly kicks in...the other day the speakers came back on while sitting in the drive-through at Chick Fil A. Any ideas?

BTW...thus far I have replaced the front two door speakers and the factory JBL amp, and it still does it. Have yet to try a reflash of the Mestro...might do that today. Kenwood has the latest firmware.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Survely I'm not the only one to experience this. Seems like there are a ton of bugs in this JBL system. That said, I guess it could be the Kenwood too. Thanks!

I forgot about this issue to be completely honest with you, but my JVC (which is owned by Kenwood) quit doing this a while back. My issue was that if I turned down my rear door speakers, or made the X-Over more powerful to the rear door speakers, my system would do this B.S. Kinda sucks that I cannot do this but it is what it is I guess. My JVC unit is actually out right now because I am about to send it off to be worked on. I put in an aftermarket sub, it worked for a while, then started glitching. I bought it from Crutchfield and got their two-year warranty, which is good til November, so I guess that worked out. My guess is that something burnt up that wasn't supposed to be, because Crutchfield said that it was not normal.

Please keep me posted on what they find on your unit. Mine is out of warranty so I will have to pull it out and pay for out of pocket. Thx!

I believe I figured this out. It looks like it was the Maestro module causing it. I took it to the stereo shop today and they bypassed two wires around the Maestro and wired them directly to the truck's harness. Basically, I think the factory JBL amp was sometimes/intermittently not getting the signal to turn on from the Maestro. Makes complete sense with how it was acting. Fingers crossed it is fixed...man what a headache.
