Looks like att is offering the unlimited car connect plan again. You have to buy a $80 hotspot, but there's no contract.
I did it last time when they had it with the mobley hotspot. I'm paying $20 and ended up just buying a hotspot and putting the Sim in it. Works great. Not sure if you would be able to do this on this plan, but a possibility.

It said my 17 tundra was compatible but ymmv

Would be a good option for those with Tesla head units.

thats a good deal. I couldn't pass up the deal at $20/mo for unlimited car connect, but for $15 or even $10.....easy decision

i never trust hotel wifi, its really nice to have your own hot spot.

I am new to certain technologies. This being one of them.

So will I have WiFi everywhere? Does it need cellular service to create a hotspot?

this is meant to just be in your vehicle, but yes, wherever you would have att cell signal, you would have wifi. great for road trips!

    Ahhh ok. Makes sense.

    So a follow up question.

If I have say a weak att signal.... where it drops the iPhone to a 4g cellular mode, I am assuming that will slow the WiFi in the hotspot as well?

I’d rather not list. My wife might see it.
The hotspot device will give you WiFi connection anywhere provided there is cellular signal that you can connect to.

Most smartphones already offer hotspot connection. T-Mobile offers the hotspot connection using your phone for free and AT&T offers it for $5 a month. Just wondering what’s the logic behind getting a separate device for this.

Essentially this. Most carriers offer hotspot tethering from your mobile phone. The only benefit of having a hotspot hard wired to your car is the "hassle" of not having to enable/disable hotspot on your mobile phone manually. the wireless network is broadcasting at all times when your truck is on. Other than that, no added benefit that I am familiar with.. perhaps better speeds if they make gigabit hotspots?..

Isnt this kinda silly? Doesnt Att already offer new plans already that has hotspot included so free (even though its " bundled" in the plan)
