Any suggestions on a product or process to remove polish residue from plastic trim like this, I have a few areas on my bed rail trim that are being stubborn. I bought and tried this stuff but it didn’t really do much and might have actually made it more noticeable… I just put some on a rag and tried wiping it off as I didn’t want to get any on my paint and end up taking off any sealer.

I start with iso alcohol, then would go to something like pro-sol if that wasn’t cutting it. You can lightly use a pencil eraser to get old wax off textured plastic, but I would be careful there. If all else fails, use solution finish to re-dye it black.

100% APC and a magic eraser does the trick for me

Ok thanks, I was thinking maybe scrubbing it with a tooth brush with iso alcohol or APC? It’s kind of textured so not sure if a pencil erase would get in there? I’ll give it a try still. Finally got picture to upload, it was being funky earlier and wasn’t showing up. Funny I had even bought masking tape specifically to mask of the bed rail trim and a few other areas before polishing and decided to skip it because it wasn’t noticeable at the time then a few months go by and there it is! I’ll pick up a few magic erasers too and give it a try, thanks to both of you for the ideas.

Try the ISO, that’s solid advice from Honda. Remember to coat it with a protectant when finished. Trim shield from Shine Supply works very well. So does a product called Clutch. Also for the hell of it…..what wax are you using that is causing this predicament in the first place?

I used 3D one for the polish and then Jescar Power Lock plus for sealant.
I feel like the residue might be from the 3D One as that was applied with the orbital polisher and the Jescar Power Lock was applied by hand with a polishing pad so I was able to be a little more precise with that process. Will ISO take off the 3D one also? if that’s what it is? I’ll definitely pick up a bottle of the Clutch, I saw that on your Retrax and sliders, it looks great!

It should. Use 3m automotive masking tape next time you break the machines out. It will save you some trouble…. Ask me how I know.

Will definitely do thanks man! I’ll give the ISO a whirl and then some Clutch or Trim shield and let you all know how it goes! Thanks again for the care package too that was badass:headbang:

Have a few bottles of dlux around. I like the pop of products like clutch better than coatings on plastics. But that’s just me. I also put a ton of care into my trucks regularly and that’s not for everyone

Hello gang, looking for thoughts to see if this product combination play nice together in the sandbox. After a proper prep sequence, was thinking about Undrdog Pro, then perhaps an application of Hydro2.., and because I have it laying around, using Beadmaker as a drying aid during future washes... Haven't used Undrdog yet, so any thoughts on getting a good result always welcome. Thanks in advance.

@ToyoMafia uses Undrdog quite a bit so he can probably speak to it better but I don’t think there’s any need to put anything on top of it. Maybe a wax to add some gloss. Hydro2 would be overkill. Beadmaker would add some great gloss and hydrophobic properties but a wax might be a better option on top of the coating.

I agree with this. I do Mckees hydro blue every 6 months or so as a maintenance product. I also apply Undrdog Pros quick detailer all the time. I don’t use wax because my truck is white and it sits outside so not worth the effort imo

Only caveat with BeadMaker....it attracts dust....slick, glossy and easy to use, however

    Quick update:

I tried ISO a couple of different ways on a rag and sponge to try and remove the residue with no luck. Before purchasing another APC product I remembered I had these hand cleaning towels leftover from a project at work. Worked like a charm!
    IMG_4404.jpg

They have a little bit of a rough feel to them, I think that helped to get into the texture of the trim. They smell like orange Go-Jo hand cleaner so maybe some kind of citrus extract in there that did the trick, but they worked great and trim looks new again. Figured I’d share if anyone else has the same issue I did.
