Are these OEM tow mirrors?

I ordered a pair of used OEM tow mirrors off eBay and received them today. I didn't really notice in the pictures, but when I got them they just seemed really smooth and glossy, whereas I thought the OEM Toyota mirrors were a little more matte based on pictures I've seen. They were definitely advertised as OEM mirrors, not "OEM style", and they even had the Toyota sticker with the part numbers on the inside rubber seal. Am I just going crazy?

Pic next to stock non-tow mirrors for reference.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
    Probably not.

I’ve owned 3 generations of Tundras and don’t recall smooth and shiny black plastic.

    Unless it was painted mirrors

Yeah those look pretty smooth and shiny compared to the OEM mirrors I've seen.

@Roman, any thoughts? The date on the sticker says 5/23/08. Part numbers on stickers are 87940-0C220-00 and 87910-0C220-00. I noticed the "current" tow mirrors are 879x0-0C221. Did the early 2nd gens have a different part number/style?

Yes on the LEDs. I mean, they feel solid and I took it for a drive after I installed them and they didn't vibrate or anything, so they seem fine. I looked up that part number and it looks like the earlier 2nd gens had a different tow mirror part number, so maybe they were more glossy back then. The seller also could have wiped them down with Armor All or 303 or something. Or he just slapped the rubber seals from actual OEM tow mirrors on these aftermarket mirrors and scammed me. I also noticed most aftermarket mirrors have the defrost symbol in the top outside corner while the OEM mirrors have it in the bottom inside (as these do).

This is the second set today I see that are being called OEM and I’m pretty sure they are not. All the info I have seen these never came with led lights from Toyota. Also ur lens looked smoked not and actual amber. But I tried tagging Roman on the other thread but maybe he will see this 1 and we get an answer

The pics from Roman's OEM parts thread show LEDs on the tow mirrors. My lenses also are definitely amber and not smoked. Hopefully Roman chimes in tomorrow, though.

The earlier part numbers were changed from 0C220 to 0C221 on the non-power folding mirrors, so those stickers are accurate as far as part numbers during that time period. I've never seen the tow mirrors in that glossy color except when someone has had them painted or armorall'd the crap out of them. The original finish is a flat black color.

Thanks for the reply, Roman. I sent the seller a message, so we'll see what he says. I'm not so concerned about the finish (although I'd prefer they were flat I instead of gloss) as I am that they're OEM. I saved about $150 vs buying new, so I won't complain too much, but I might try to get some money back if he had them painted or something. Thanks again!

Since you mentioned they were used maybe they clear coated them to keep them from fading out. They have a heck of a reflection for just being straight plastic.

    Keep us updated!

Yeah, possibly. I sent the seller a message this morning but haven't heard back yet. I did go inspect them a little more closely and it looks like he may have tried to clean them up with Armor All or something like that. The seller normally sells old police/military patches and memorabilia and has a 100% seller rating with over 3k sales, so it's not like it's a brand new account/seller. He said he took these off his truck after the first year he owned it. I don't necessarily think he's trying to scam me or anything, because it would have to be fairly elaborate to go find some rubber seals from actual OEM mirrors with the part numbers and mfg date, then swap them over to some used aftermarket mirrors.

So here's what I've learned: The seller said they were his late uncle's and came off his 2009 Tundra. I asked if they were ever painted or clear coated and he doesn't know. He did say his uncle "bought them from the dealer" (not sure how he'd know they much detail if his uncle is no longer with us) and only had them on for one summer.

My concern, besides the obvious glossy finish, is why would his uncle pay so much for tow mirrors from the dealer only to keep them on for a summer? I suppose he could have sold the truck or something and took them off.

I wonder if there are any other identifiable features to differentiate between OEM and aftermarket? Would anyone with OEM mirrors be able to take a picture of your mirrors at the joint/hinge when they're folded in?

For me when I ordered my 14' Tundra in the fall of 13' they were a $40 option for OEM tow mirrors. Personally I like the fact they are manual. Less to fail in the future. My brothers tow mirror on his Ford failed and it sent him back $750...Yes, mine are flat black. I will use 303 on them a few times a year. Yukon Provincial Park campground near Dawson City Yukon. Does anyone know how to read these? I popped this off the hinge cover on the mirror and assume it's some sort of manufacturing date.

Crazy how its only a $40 charge when from the factory, after the fact were on the hook for around $400.

Reviving this thread. Can anyone tell me of these tow mirrors look oem? I don’t have part numbers and the guy selling claims they were on the truck when he bought the truck new from Toyota.

A lot of times there will be a sticker on the sail panel seal with part numbers. Otherwise, it's a good sign that the defrost symbol/icon on the mirror is in the bottom inside corner—it seems like most aftermarket mirrors have the symbol up in the upper corners.

That's the old OEM part number for the tow mirrors, so I'd say those are OEM. I think they changed the part number slightly in 2010 or something, but those look to be OEM!
