Are dark red smoked Recon taillights too dark?

Like the title says, are they bright enough to be safe? People dont pay attention to the road, and id hate for my taillights to cause an accident. Ive seen tons of photos and videos but I havent seen them in person. Lighting can be quite different in real life.

Don't believe I've seen dark red smoke.... But I've seen the smoke taillights and I honestly dislike them because they make it harder to see the lights IMO.

Also, I would check Nevada law on smoked lenses (if you care). Police can use it for PC if it is illegal in Nevada. I haven't had a vehicle registered in Nevada since 2005, so I don't know the law there any more on that. Again, only a suggestion if you care. I know some people don't

Too dark in my book. So hard to see them.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Safety First or Safety Third? That is the real question here.

Now think about how bright the lights must be to meet DOT standards when the brake light is ON, I'm sure they "pass" that standard.

Yet now think about how they do when the brakes are not applied and its only a running light, do you really think they're Safe then??? Most likely Not.

So again, Safety First or Third?

I've got the smoked version on my truck, and they're brighter than stock. Even just the running lights at night. They're LED and very bright.
But do what you feel comfortable with.

To be fair those are the smoked tail lights not the dark smoked. I have the same set and I love them. They’re plenty bright day or night. Unfortunately I have not seen a set of dark smoked before so I can’t comment on the brightness of those.

IMO aftermarket tail lights look cheesy and not something I'd want to risk having a failure since I wouldn't know about it until somebody pointed it out (by a LEO or the person that just rear ended me)

At the most I'd do a good quality LED bulb in the OEM housings

I don't quite understand how smoked lights, blinkers and tail lights are legal. Or why someone would want to make it harder to see that you are turning or stopping. I'd rather be safe than "cool"

I dont think theres any issue on brightness with the smoked ones, because the lens itself isnt actually tinted.

i liked the red-smoked ones because it has a tinted-stock feel to it, cant see much of the LED inner workings, but im thinking my gut feeling of it being too dark is a reality.
