I just picked up a twin toolbox setup (with the air tank inside) and went to use it for the first time today. I'm getting maybe 4 seconds of compressor on time before it shuts off. With the air nozzle attached to the hose, when I press I get a huff of air and then nothing. Wait a few seconds, squeeze again and another huff. Repeat this maybe a dozen times and the compressor kicks on again for about 4 seconds and we start the cycle over again.

    Anyone seen this? Suggestions?

Uhhuh. Not a power issue. Truck is running. Power light lit, and cooling fan on the twin spins the entire time. Fuses are fine...

Is there a filter on the intake for the compressor? Plugged?

Both are brand new and good to go. When it runs, it seems to do just fine. Getting it to run seems to be the problem. Pressure switch bad? Hard to believe since this is straight out of the box brand new.

    Maybe a faulty pressure switch?

2x ..... If you can hook up a pressure gauge to confirm it.

is that the cord that it comes with or a cord you added for extra length?

if you have a 12vdc power supply try using that instead of your battery and alt.

if the cord is original it's not a power issue and your pressure switch may need to be dialed up if adjustable or replaced. use a gauge to verify kick off pressure

Definitely not a power issue and the air line is original. Second air line that came off my home compressor also didn’t help, so I doubt it’s that. Gotta be the pressure switch. Problem is I’m not sure where it is nd without taking the whole thing apart... just sucks as it’s brand new. I’m sure ARB is going to have me send it in for repair.

The pressure switch is inside, below the black cover. I'm pretty familiar with the twin.

I believe you'll find the wires to it are yellow and purple.

831, is the switch adjustable? Also is it a simple matter to remove the compressor from the box, flip it over and remove the cover? Or is it more involved than that? Thanks.

I don't know about removing it from the box but removing the black top is just 4 screws then cautiously pry the other side out/away from the cooling fins. There's no adjustment to the pressure switch, it either works or doesn't. I don't think there's anything wrong with the wiring 'cause it wouldn't start at all.

That little huff you hear is the orange line being quickly depressured, and the pressure level is not all that great. When you do wait a bit, the orange line begins to slowly pressure back up again. Sounds like the compressor isn't pumping any air before it shuts off (no air pressure in the tank), or, if the tank is at normal pressure, there is an obstruction of flow from the tank. Either way, I think you're looking at sending it for repair, exchange, or buying a new compressor.

That absolutely sucks, I feel for you. I just recently bought the single ARB compressor in the tool box with no problems. Me, I’d send the thing back and have them replace/repair the thing. For over $800.00 you’d expect it to run perfect.

Ask ARB to warranty it. I have the same kit. I bought mine almost 7 years ago and they warrantied it about 2 years ago after it finally died from use while airing up four 40" tires in 100-degree weather in the Sun.

Thanks. I've reached out to the vendor I bought it from (last week). Hopefully they can just swap it out for me. Would rather not have to send a brand new unit in at this point.
