Hey all, my dad's looking to build an AR10 and asked me to look into build kits. I'm curious if anyone here has any experience with them, or even any recommendations as far as what brands are a quality, things to look out for, etc. I didn't get a price range, but I assume he'd like to stay below $1300 or so. I'm helping build it, so I'd kind of like a kit that comes with everything involved.

I'm not sure of about a complete kit but I ordered my upper/lower and hand guard from spikes tactical and bought the rest separate.

Not a complete kit but Aero Precision makes a great receiver set. Built my cousin one with there receiver set not long ago. The problem with the AR-10 is it's not as standardized in the parts. You can take two AR-15s and almost all the parts will interchange you cannot do the same with an AR-10 so just do your homework when buying parts.

Yeah I know, seems to me like the DPMS patterned ones are the way to go. I’ve read there’s generally better parts availability and more adaptability. I found near complete build kits on Ground Zero Precision site, all you have to do is buy a lower. They all have Aero precision uppers.

No specific purpose, more just to have another AR10. He already has a Remington R25. Could wind up being used for anything from target shooting on up to hunting deer.

I second this. AP for upper and lower, barrel, BCG, BUIS, charging handle, buffer kit..

Whatever you want for trigger, grio, butt stock, optics.. i recommend Velocity Triggers, they perform amazingly for 1/3 the price of Timney (the company is owned by my a 15 year Timney employee).

Never have used the Velocity trigger mainly because I have always had great luck with TIMNEY triggers.

I've used both, they are nearly identical in function. Both are fantastic.

I have an Armalite AR-10, 90's vintage. I really wish that Magpul or someone would make magazines that are compatible with the older AR-10's / M-1A's. I've always wondered why no one manufactures polymer mags for those rifles as it seems like there are a lot of M-1A's / AR-10's out there.
