    October 12 - 14

We're gonna run through Anza Borrego next weekend. I will be in Borrego Springs Friday at noon. Driving home Sunday. This trip will be mostly desert trail so we can stretch our legs and work our suspension. Exact routes TBD. I don't need to sell Anza, Anza sells itself. Anyone want to join us???

    We piss excellence.

    Gear requirements for this trip:
    · 4wd truck in excellent condition with all terrain or mud tires.
    · Extra fuel, at least 250 miles off road range
    · Full size spare and tools to change it.
    · Solid recovery points front and rear.
    · Complete backcountry camping setup. We will camp in extremely remote areas with no services available.
    · Make sure you have enough water (1 gallon per person per day duh).
    · Bring as much firewood as you can.
    · VHF comms

    Confirmed:
    · @osidepunker, Alex solo. 4wd Tundra. Arriving Fri 12pm, leaving Monday morning
    · @01erionracing, Jimmy and son. 4wd Tundra. Arriving Sat morning
    · @Stewie, Matt solo. 4wd Tundra. Arriving Fri 12pm
    · @jc153, John solo. 4wd Tundra. Arrival 6pm Fri

    Tentative:
    · @sdde4n , Dean. 4wd Tundra. Arriving Sat morning

    Meals:
    TBD
    · Fri dinner: John, tomahawk chop ribeye with portabella and fig confit
    · Sat breakfast: Alex, breakfast Burritos
    · Sat dinner: Jimmy
    · Sun Breakfast: Matt, real eggs

Disclaimer: This isn't a for-profit or organized event. We are just a group of homies who enjoy wheeling and camping and we are always looking to meet new friends. We help each other with breaks and stucks and we never leave anybody behind.

My favorite SGU trip ever is still that first Anza trip where we blazed trail across the open desert with only this instruction form you,

“See that mountain over there? We gotta get there by nightfall.”

And we did. And it was awesome.

haha! Yeah dude that was super fun! I love that part of Anza. Its huge and very difficult to pick your way across, but you can always see land marks so you don't really get lost. It makes you feel like a wagoneer in the old west

    BUMP!

Anyone else want to roll with us!

I have a few routes worked out. On Friday I want to explore the Truckhaven area. I've never seen it. I'll find a good camp on the north end of the park. Maybe do some night runs to the 4x4 playground. Sat we'll work our way through to the south and skirt the Split mtns and camp somewhere deep in Fish Creek at the secret spot. Sat will be mostly GOFAST desert blasting and we'll cover a lot of miles so make sure to bring lots of extra fuel.

    @sdde4n you still tentative?

Conditions were perfect. Not too much traffic on the trails. Sand was perfect too. My first time so not much to compare it to. I’ll post pics tonight.

I think the SGU trip will be a lot of fun because Alex knows the area so much better than I do.

I went as far as I could. It's closed not far after Sheep Canyon (Middle Willows). The camping up that way looks pretty cool.

Nice. Yes there are many places to camp and hike up as well. Of course tons of wildlife at night too.

Suspension-wise, just a leveling kit. On those dry river beds, I can only imagine how fast the SGU guys can go. It's probably a good thing I can't afford the dream setup just yet: I have a lot to learn skill-wise as a driver.

Yeah dude the camping up there is awesome. They close it so the big horn sheep can fornicate for the summer

It should have opened up Oct 1. Did they have a sign or something?
